Hotel Bacchus, Villach

This place is the most horrible one I have ever stayed in!!! The info on Booking.com that the hotel is renovated in 2013 is a lie! This place is falling apart and it feels like being in a brothel. On the ground floor there is a restaurant where smoking is allowed so that the first floor where my room was stinks.

The worst was that heating did not work. I arrived around noon in late November and the outside temperature was around O Celsius. I wanted to rest but instead started feeling so cold so that I was afraid that I am getting fever. After I called the two cell phones provided - no one is at Bacchus in the afternoon - I was told that at 18.00 they will come and bring me an electric heater, unbelievable.

Another detail: they asked me to pay as soon as I arrived. The lady wanted cash, so I gave her 90 euro and asked for a receipt - she said that she could not do it but will give it to me later. Needless to say I never got a receipt, which proves my point that this place is shady.

I then went and complained at the Villach Tourist office and they told me that they regularly get complaints from unhappy guests staying at Bacchus. People there were extremely nice and apologized many times. They then called the owner and insisted that they return money to me because I wanted to change hotel. The owner first refused but after they mentioned that they will need to report to the police the incident for charging me cash and not issuing the receipt the owner quickly changed his mind and on the return to Bacchus around 17.00 I was given my money back.
