With Reservations At The Age Of 50+ We Decided To
With reservations at the age of 50+ we decided to take on a biking holiday at Rosenhof, Austria.Collected from the Airport by host, arriving to excellent accommodation and outstanding scenery surrounding us. We had great advice from our hosts to get the best out of each day, finishing with a fantastic evening home cooked meal, tailored to individual likes/dislikes. Hosts should write a recipe book! A totally relaxing holiday , spectacular views of Austria and fantastic hosts. David and Angie can't do enough for you to ensure you have a perfect holiday. Yes, we WILL be going back again for more, way beyond our 50's. An amazing holiday,Can't wait......

We Came For A Cycling Holiday, Our Hosts Were Frie
We came for a cycling holiday, our hosts were friendly and treated us more as friends than guests. Our room was spacious and comfortable. After being expertly fitted with our bikes we were supplied with maps and advice tailored specifically for our level of expertise and interests. After a huge breakfast we were sent off with a packed lunch to discover the beautiful scenery and little villages, coming home to wonderful home cooked dinners. Our stay was too short! There is so much to do and see we will definately be back to enjoy this wonderful part of Austria again and will definatley be staying at the Ebensee Rosenhof Guesthouse again

We Are A Family Of Four, 2 Adults And 2 Teenage Bo
We are a family of four, 2 adults and 2 teenage boys, we had a fantastic time skiing in the winter of 2008, this was our second visit for skiing as we were there again in 2007. The skiing again was really excellent and the owners went out of their way to assist with the skiing and the language and were even happy to drive us to some of the further a field ski slopes. Ebensee itself has its own ski slope. They also offer a service, for a nominal cost, of pick up and drop off at either Linz or Salzburg airport. The food at the Ebensee Rosenhof Guesthouse was all home cooked and was just what was needed after a day of skiing. We were really made to feel part of the family. We were persuaded to return in the summer for a more active summer holiday. This again was excellent as we did a lot of cycling, walking and rough water rafting. We had many BBQ's in the evenings. The owners of the guest house were excellent company and their house was our home for the time that we stayed. Although we were not expert cyclists we still had great fun exploring the region and did 30/40k some days. The owners were more than happy to hire out cycles and give us routes to either walk or cycle. We have now booked up for a further winter holiday for 2009 and are looking forward to some quality skiing.

We Have Just Returned From Our 3rd Visit To The Ro
We have just returned from our 3rd visit to the Rosenhof Guesthouse; twice for a skiing holiday and once in the summer. Very warm welcome from the staff who could not be more helpful. Rosenhof is a beautifully kept guesthouse situated in a very pretty village, only minutes away from the lake. It is a perfect base for cycling, walking and sightseeing, as well as skiing in the winter months. We enjoyed delicious food with entertaining company! We've already booked for next year!
If you are looking for a friendly welcome in a very comfortable guesthouse in order to explore the Austrian Lakes and Mountains, you would go a long way to beat the Gasthaus Rosenhof. There is a really friendly, atmosphere and the staff can provide lots of information / maps to help you get the most out of your stay.
We have had a great time on all three visits there.
1. In My Opinion Rosenhof Is Completely Misreprese
1. In my opinion Rosenhof is completely misrepresented on the website. While Rosenhof is within striking distance of many nice places, all pictured on the website, Ebensee itself is not a very nice place. It is a town of tenement buildings, almshouses, ugly industrial sites, and dirty unpleasant restaurants. It is a really unpleasant place to base one's self. Further, if you think that you will see the town as pictured on the website from Rosenhof, you will be sadly disappointed. Rosenhof has no view at all. It sits on the valley bed away from the lake and a stone's throw from the town's tenements. From the website, I was led to believe that I was headed to a ski resort, with everything that is implied by that description. 2. The owners of Rosenhof demand payment in full 2 weeks ahead of your arrival. This was the only place in my itinerary that did so. The reason soon became obvious to me: when I did not want to stay for the full period of my booking, I was told there would be no refund. Then a refund of two days (out of six) was offered. I accepted and said that I would stay another night and then go. I was told that, were I to do that, I would only be given a refund for only one day. I cleared out immediately, of course. So it turned out that I paid the price of 4 nights for a one night stay - the room thus cost me 256 Euros for the night!!!
This review almost led to me not booking with Rosenhof - What a mistake that would have been!Thankfully I decided to go with the remaining positive reviews. Agreed there are one or two Industrial sites / units in Ebensee - if you would want to find them. However, we didn't go looking for them, given the spectacular views surrounding us on arrival. A short hike or bike and there is even more breathtaking scenery. Hosts David and Angie supplied excellent advice on suggesting intinery for each day and evening meals no restaurant could match (ought to sell a recipe book!)and really did make extra efforts to ensure all guests enjoyed their holiday. The result - A fantastic holiday - Well beyond expectations - Don't miss the opportunity - Book now!
