We Have Travelled Extensively Around The World But

We have travelled extensively around the world but Levi Ski Resort is the one of the most memorable places we have visited and certainly the most magical (even for 53, 50, 18 and 16 year olds!). It's nearly 6 months since our return yet I think about the place every day. So much more to do than just ski - we drove across amazing frozen lakes on snow mobiles and were pulled across them, and through beautiful, silent forests, by reindeer and huskies - unforgettable experience. We took lift rides to gaze across what surely must be one of Europe's last wildernesses, ate unusual and very tasty cuisine in friendly restaurants followed by lively rock music until 4am (our daughter's decision and rather bizarre when you realise how isolated you are!), cooked sausages over open fires in teepees and drank berry juice whilst listening to haunting Sami music. A highlight was a visit to the Ice Hotel in Sweden - MUST return and spend longer. Even the 4 hour journey was fascinating as a completely different way of life unfolds before your eyes (as long as you're curious enough to stay awake!). Levi is a lovely, small, uncommercialised town with very friendly locals who are keen to speak English but also to be reassured that you are enjoying their country, of which they seem so proud - quite rightly. Our log cabin was situated in a winter wonderland - you feel as though you are in a scene from a serene and beautifully simple Christmas card - and, yes, you can visit Santa! Travel with Inghams and stay in their log cabins - very central to town/hotel/supermarket etc and yet still peaceful. (Some cabins are out of town - difficult with thick snow). Sun and powdery snow every day. A photographer's dream. If you can't decide whether to go to Lapland, here's some help - go, Go, GO!!!

There's plenty to do for everyone.
