Spoilt By An Unsatosfactory Paint Finish Resulting In Rust .
As a tumble dryer it does its job. BUT after less than eighteen months it is showing numerous rust spots which are spreading making it unsightly. A washing machine bought at the same time and used in the same room, but a different make, is showing no signs of rust. The manufacturers have refused to accept any responsibility. It reminds me of my first cars, 1960/1970 which rusted apart rather than wearing out. Paint quality/standards have improved since then - but not in this case.

Please Don't Buy One Of These!
We purchased an Indesit IDC 85S tumble dryer in late 2015. As we prefer to dry our laundry outside whenever possible, and we had just had to replace our washing machine we decided that this relatively inexpensive model would meet our needs. A bad mistake, as a few weeks after we bought the machine we became aware of the safety problems with this and other models from this manufacturer.
It was not until 25 May that an 'engineer' arrived to carry out the safety modifications on our machine. Referring to the person who called as an 'engineer' was laughable, as I believe that if Mr Bean and Laurel and Hardy had joined forces they could have achieved a much better outcome. The 'engineer' was with us for most of the day, constantly fiddling around with the machine and cursing, then disappearing outside and making increasingly frantic phone calls to various workmates. When one of these eventually turned up, he fixed the machine and they both left. However, my wife called them back as when she tried the machine it made very strange noises. It turned out that the first mechanical genius had fitted a part the wrong way round!
After this, all was well, or so we thought....The tumble dryer is beneath a kitchen worktop, and we recently moved it to clean behind. When my wife held the machine's top, it lifted off in her hands! It turned out that the bozo who 'repaired' it must have lost the two long screws which held the top in place! We have reported the problem, but needless to say we have still not had a response so it looks like BBC 'Watchdog' might be the next option.
The incompetence and complacent attitude of this company is not only very annoying, it is risking people's lives.

Danger Of Fire - Rubbish Service
Purchased this machine a year ago and told in November that the machine is likely to catch fire. Also told that they would fix the machine within 5 weeks. Received a phone call today (after chasing them yet again) to tell me that they won't bother to fix it until the end of March or early April. That's at least 18 weeks!!! Considering this machine could end up destroying your entire house, they really should do better.
We were also told that we can still use the machine but we must not leave it unattended. We were then told in a second call today that we can use it but need to check it frequently. This is totally unacceptable when the machine is in a utility room and not in the main house.
Due to this poor service I can only recommend that you DO NOT purchase anything from this company. Also, please be aware that Indesit, Hotpoint and Whirlpool are ALL the same company.
I have a machine that is on the list of dangerous due to fault, i cannot get a reply when contacting by phone or email, the only email you can find is one for when you actally have ' fire damage' so wait for a fire and then they-will be interested....... Patheic really!!!!!!!! I have put my dryer in the garden were i know it wont danger my family or my property however this still doesnt interest Whirlpool as they would rather not be contactable ( unless of course you have a fire and then they want to know) LOL...........
An update;
Today the machine stopped working altogether so we rang John Lewis to get it repaired but they told me that as its one of the machines awaiting repair by Indisit, I should ring them and they will send out an engineer to fix it. Rang Indisit to be told they are not interested and to ring yet another number on Monday so I can book a repair that I will have to pay for.
Not impressed with Indesit or John Lewis now,!!!
