Disabled? Don't Bother With Showcase Reading
Unable to book tickets online with a CEA card. This makes it unacceptably difficult for disabled customers to buy tickets. When I pointed this out staff verged between the unhelpful to the downright confrontational. Don't bother to email Head office, they can't be bothered to respond either. The seats in this cinema are very comfortable but don't expect any level of customer service. They seem to think it is below them to offer it or even have a meaningful dialogue. Very disappointing for this day and age.

Rubbish
Rubbish my Daughter came to watch Macbeth with her dad and she is 15 and they aren't letting her get into the room and she is doing it at school service is EXTREMLY SHOCKING never come here again we will go to another Odeon cinema really fuming.
Such shocking behaviour. Cinema following the law and requesting ID for an age restricted film. How dare they do their best to keep your children from seeing films the BBFC has deemed unsuitable for under 15 year olds and protect them. Is there anyway around this? Yes! All your daughter has to do is get a validate uk card. They're free, approved by the government and accepted at most places proof of age is required. Of course, you could go to a cinema that has no morals instead. Your choice.

Prepare To Queue For A Long Time To Buy Tickets
The renovations seem to be going on for ages. Don't understand why they've added a Costa, unless they're making money from it.
They've lost an area of the tills because of it and the queues now to buy a ticket from the box office is a joke.
If you're prepared to queue for an hour, why not just go to another cinema slightly further away and queue for half the time.
When I spoke to a manager, he just gave me the standard reply. Think he was fed up with it too.

Brilliant Upgrade - Best Cinema In/near Reading
This used to be an awful place to watch films due to the bad seating pitch (meaning numpties who are over 5.5foot and sit bolt upright block your view) and the most uncomfortable seats ever made that seemed to be from the 1940s
picture and sound quality were ok. Anyway they've FINALLY upgraded this cinema (should have don't it years ago). I like lots of others avoided this place because of the bad seats and seating pitch and went to Vue instead.
The upgrades are great - costa coffee is a good idea. xplus screens are awesome and as for the dolby amos and new 4k digital screens, that's more like it. best thing are the seats which are electric leather seats with recline and footrests. I will be going back there to watch films in future.

Avoid,avoid,avoid
Exorbitant prices, uncomfortable seats, cinema drab and dreary

Avoid At All Costs
Wanted to avoid long queues at ticket office and buy ticket in advance on line but these people charge 60p PER TICKET commission for this. Also cannot reserve seat even if you do buy in advance. So you're paying 60p for doing them a favour and get absolutely NOTHING for it. What are they thinking of? This practice should be investigated by consumer groups and others.

Showcase Cinema Derby (not The De Lux)
Worst experience I have ever had at a cinema. Their web site was misleading and when I arrived they weren't even showing the 3D version of the film I wanted to see. I elected to see the 2D version instead, bad mistake.
The sound system is awful. I could hardly hear the voices it was so bad, there seemed to be only one speaker for the voices which was a pathetic affair sounding cheap 1980 boombox. Loud humming noises were audible throughout the film.
When I remonstrated with the manager her attitude was that the customer is always wrong. I got told tough luck, it was all my fault. There was no attempt at empathy, let alone an apology.
There were only 5 other people watching the film, the place was deserted, and little surprise!
The other staff, I must say, were extremely friendly and helpful. I can only hope they will train the manager how to deal with customers in a more professional manner.

Showcase Cinemas Booking On Line
The Showcase Cinema site for booking on line is just appalling. Freezes, goes back, returns errors and in the end after 6 attempts I gave up. By the way the "contact us" link on the site goes to a redundant address so don't think you can easily sort out anything afterwards.
I couldn't agree more. It is undoubtadly the worst ecommerce site ever created. I've never used any other site where I had to enter my credit card details *before* I even choose what I want to buy! Here, you have to create a login or be a guest and enter your cc details, then look at a film time, want to check another, so have to start again (enter cc details, login...) and so on. Even when you select a film and click book we have problems with the site saying it can't contact the cinema, the booking hasn't gone through - but it has. And so on and so on. I also tried the "Contact us" link and *eventually* found an email address I could contact. I emailed them, did get a reply saying they would pass this on, but never heard from them again.
I think it is difficult to make it worse!

Showcase Is Close To Where We Live, And Therefore
Showcase is close to where we live, and therefore it is convenient for us to go there. However, yesterday evening we left our house early knowing that it was going to be busy as of the orange two for one on wednesdays deal, at 7:15pm and arrived at showcase and saw people streaming in. The queue to go in was coming out of the cinema, and into the car park. Our family of four waited in the queue for nearly an hour, just to get our tickets. Finally, we got there and we got the tickets for Toy Story 3 in 3D, two adults and two children, also on the two for 1 offer. We paid a huge £ 25.60, just for the movie, i could believe that this is how much it costed even on the offer. If it wasn't for the offer, it would have been over £50, to watch a movie for a family of four! We waited in another queue and brought popcorn which was nearly worth £4.00 (a rip off) and waited in another queue to get into the actual movie. The kids where tired and bored already, and when we got into the cinema, we had to search for seats and ended up right at the front and our necks hurt by looking upwards, and the floor was horribly sticky. The film was great though, the kids loved it! But showcase let us down, and definitely needs improving. The people we met in the queues agree too. And prices need to be lowered!
well firstly, get there early so u wont have to queue up. secondly u saved £20 quit complaining and finally, u didnt have to give the money to them u could have just walked out and say im not paying for this! GET OVER IT!
