Great Product.
Since I had lots of ink for my first printer I chose to purchase a second when my first one finally died. The first one lasted several years and this one has been going strong since I installed it quite some time ago. I don't want to look for something different when what I have does the job, so I would purchase a third one if the time came to do it again.Great product.

What A Mess
I bought an HP 815C printer in Jan.2000. It gave a very, very good service for 13 years. I wish I could buy a new HP 815C again, but like most other high-tech items, more sophisticated & more features, but much less reliable features are forced down the poor consumer's throat. I recently bought another HP printer, HP Officejet 6600 All-in-one - I don't swear so I can't get my frustration out at the absolutely horrible design of this printer. It just gave an error message on the screen and wouldn't let me do ANYHING, even scan, or photocopy, or fax. I tried to contact after-sales support. I invite you all to have a look for yourself...it seems HP have given up on non-corporate customers since their tech support is only geared for corporate customers. For the private consumer, nothing was available on-line and just a customer services (one of those higher-charges, 0844/0870 etc tel numbers). I called that number and eventually I was asked to try out a possible solution but it didn't work. I also tried downloading some new firmware for the printer and it didn't work either. HP eventually said that they would send me a new printer but refused to accept a further payment from me in order for me to upgrade to an entirely different printer. I invite an HP official to comment on this awful policy. Why force a defective-design down a poor consumer's throat when he is quite willing to pay up the difference to get a decently designed model. But that's what they did. They have sent me a new HP officejet 6600. I have only used it for an hour or two, so can't comment authoritatively, but you don't have to be a psychic to know what's going to happen with this printer in the next year or so... If you have doubt, let me tell you that the printer manual says: It's important that you switch the printer off from the printer's front panel and not from the mains-switch. If you switch it off from the mains-switch, the printer may develop A PERMANENT FAULT. Most people have experienced their fuses/Earth-leakage Circuit breakers tripping in their homes, so sooner or later, the printer will be switched off UNDESIRABLY. I suspect that's what happened to my first HP 6600 too. I CHALLENGE HP TO COME TO REVIEW CENTRE AND ANSWER THE CONSUMER ON THIS POINT. At best, they might say, well, keep the printer switched off all the time until you do need it for some task. Use it and switch it off again quickly (from the front-panel of course)... I am not the revengeful type so I will express hope that HP will listen and improve on this negligence and I do hope they'll compensate HP 6600 customers in a satisfactory way. There are many people on the forums who have said that HP are not what they used to be and, regarding reliability, they are just the opposite. I did not listen to them and paid the penalty.
