No Performance On Quality Or Service

I ordered a Power Steering Conversion Kit and a disc brake conversion kit for aa 1973 Chevy Nova.

When the parts arrived, our mechanic very experienced, installed all the parts.

No problem with the power steering conversion kit.

When the mechanic test drove the car, the brakes were not right. He inspected the brakes and noticed the calipers did not align with the rotor. He worked with it to see if he could resolve the problem, but could not make the calipers line up with the rotors.

He called Performance Online and they were, as has been stated in every complaint and review I’ve now seen, rude, and condescending. They kept telling him he didn’t know what he was doing. He has over 20 years experience. He worked for me for years, before I retired and sold him my business. I’ve seen him replace or rebuild engines in diesel trucks, and do every kind of repair on cars and trucks. He works on the cars of my children, my Sister, and our cars.

Anyway, after days of arguing, someone else got involved and agreed to send a replacement kit. Said not to bother to send the 1st parts back. He stated he assembled the kit, on the bench, and aligned everything. When the kit got here, you could see where some parts were bent to try to align the calipers and rotors.

When the mechanic installed the kit, same problem. He took pictures to show the misalignment and sent those to Performance. We determined the Caliper mounting bracket was not manufactured properly and therefore made the pieces misalign.

After arguing again, the mechanic told them we just wanted to send the parts back and move on. They finally issued an RGA  and the parts were sent back.

the person I dealt with called and stated the parts had been used, and therefore couldn’t be sold again, and therefore he couldn’t refund my monies. I explained that we had to put the parts on and try them to find out they wouldn’t work. He then said the parts were damaged, but they were bent when we received them, so I don’t know if that’s what he’s referring to or not.

I do know this, if you buy a defective carburetor, you can’t find out it’s defective without installing it and trying to use it. If you buy a defective alternator, starter, etc., the same thing applies.

We were sold parts that were not manufactured correctly. I am out thousands of dollars because of what I paid for the parts, plus all the extra labor involved in dealing with the badly manufactured pieces.
