Guardalavaca, Occidental Gr. Playa Turquesa

First impressions were fantastic the place was excellent. Food was good we always found something to eat at the buffet. We ate at the chinese restaurant and it was the worst meal we have ever eaten. We booked this hotel for our honeymoon and the hotel had no information about it but the staff were very friendly and the next day we had champagne in our room no flowers as stated but we didnt mind. You couldnt find fault with any of the staff they were excellent. THE HUMIDITY at night was quite unbearable at times we did get bitten a few times even though we had taken all the sprays etc that people had said to take on the reviews we had read. i would definatly recommend this hotel to my friends. the trip to swim with the dolphins was fantastic and worth every penny.

I have only just returned from my holiday in Cuba. The hotel Occidental is definitely not a four star hotel I can say that for sure, after reading good reviews and seeing beautiful pictures of the hotel I was greatly disappointed. I have only been back off my holiday one day and have found it necessary to write this review to warn people of this hotel. Most of the staff were unfriendly and it was even hard to get a drink of water but can not be said for all. There was not really any management and this was greatly needed. After four days we moved from this hotel and found that a lot of other people were doing the same thing, it ruined our holiday however we are lucky as some people that stayed there were more badly affected than my family. I really wouldn't recommend this hotel we ending up moving to Hotel Playa Pesquero this hotel was so much nicer. When we first arrived at the Occidental Hotel and we complained to the reps we were told that this is one of Cuba's best hotel and I can a sure you that there are much nicer one such as Hotel Playa Pesquero. Where we found better food the staff here was friendly and very welcoming and couldn't do enough to help. The pools and setting of this hotel was lovely and well kept.

Fantastic beach, lovely staff. Food variety great, not bland as people expect. Pools are really good, one with swim up bar. Clean and well made up rooms, also very big rooms. Fantastic air con.

Would visit Cuba again, but I wouldn't stay here again. When looking to book, try to book somewhere away from forest's by looking at Google Earth.
