Antigua, Galley Bay Resort

Galley Bay is one of those once in a lifetime holiday destinations for normal folks. There is no doubt, it is expensive but it is just so lush!

On arrival we were met with cocktails and driven over the lagoon to the beach front resort. The building all face out onto the beach and we had a bungalow that was 11 steps (i measured) from the patio to the water! The bed was huge and the room had everything that I could have wanted. As it was all inclusive our fridge was kept topped up with beer and water and the bathroom was a good size with excellent shower.

The bay itself is all theirs (yours!) and there were just a few locals who come down to wash or occasionally try and sell you a wicker basket. they were really friendly and not intrusive. There are strategicly placed hammocks and loads of sunbeds and the water is beautiful. There is also decent snorkling on the right hand side of the bay as you are looking out. This stuff can be hired as can windsurfers, canoes etc.

The food was a-maz-ing! Breakfast was a set menu with eggs benedict, breakfast quesadillas! (awesome) and other delicious items freshly cooked to order all proceded by fresh fruit, danishes breads, cereals.

Lunches could be had in either of the two restaurants that were there and there and the food was always excellent, as were the dinners. Once a week their is BBQ. I could literally write forever about this but you get the idea.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Happy to answer questions or just chat. There are also tennis courts which we used a couple of times.

For us it was a real chill out holiday and I can think of now place better. Nothing to do but sit in the sun wondering what to have for the next meal while supping on a bottle of beer or a rum and coke.
