Hotel Al Malcanton Dorsoduro, Venice

This hotel was a great find through Budgetplaces.com. It is an easy walk from the bus or train station, about 10 - 15 mins. Great location. Quiet at night. Our room had a small balcony where we ate breakfast and listened to the locals waking up and going to work. We wanted to discover the Venice the locals know, as we have been to Venice before and done the tourist stuff. Close by were restaurants and cafes. Be careful though as some are very pricey. The hotel recommended a couple of places close by that were inexpensive and the food delicious. We managed to find our way to St Marks square and the Rialto bridge. We did a lot of walking but finally caved in and went on a Gondola ride! We love Venice and would certainly recommend this hotel if you're travelling on a budget. Ticks all the boxes.
