Kololi, Bijilo Beach Hotel

As 1st time travellers to the Gambia we could not have wished for a better hotel. Bijilo beach hotel is Located a 20 minute beach walk away from the main senegambia strip it is ideal for a more peaceful stay. Our ground floor poolside room was large and complete with bath, shower, tv, air con and hairdryer. A buffet style breakfast was included. Dining in the evening consisted of either a 3 course set menu(fabulous value at 350GMD) or an a la carte menu. Food was freshly prepared, excellent quality and served by friendly staff. With the exception of Tuesday evenings (Karaoke) the entertainment provided consisted of local artists, from African drummers & dancers to local music. Very friendly and helpful staff who like all of the locals we met on our travels went out of thier way to make sure our holiday was enjoyable. Next door we found Jamaa beach bar, Mr Bouba his family and the beach boys looked after us very well. Food and hospitality was 2nd to none. Thanks to our experiences here we will be returning very soon.

Totally worth a visit, leave your European expectations at the airport and go the Gambian way, you'll be glad you did.
