Avoid Record Go

Take plenty of photos before you leave including mileage. again plenty when you drop the car off including mileage. and fuel level. best to take a printout of the contract if you used a booking agent. If you have a private rental car insurance policy don't let them force or pressure you into believing you need extra insurance, In my case they demanded over 300 euros. The best advice I can give is TOTALY AVOID THEM. There customer service doesn't respond to emails. You will need Visa card to help you get your security deposit back. The Spanish authorities should be equally ashamed of themselves for letting them carry on in business.

I am publishing because I have been short change on my fuel deposit and have not even had a sniff of the 900 euro security deposit yet

3 Months To Reply Me Back - Avoid Headache And Rent With Ano

To sum up the situation, I rented a car for 4 days in Mallorca, and the car broke down while we were heading to our boat tour. Therefore, I called to road assistance and she mentioned that in order to get assistance to assess the situation, someone must be at the spot with the vehicle. As I had a commitment, obviously, I could no wait for the assistance. I ordered a taxi that cost me €58.10 (return). Once I came back to the hotel, where the car was, I called the assistance again and hey came after 55 minutes! At the end of the day, it was a problem that could be sorted without me but made me wait and get stressed throughout my honey moon. By being aware that unpredicted things happen, I tried to get a refund at least from the rental day that I did not use the car at all, and the company took 3 MONTHS to reply me back and, as predicted, it was a negative answer.

Overall, it was a particular situation but a company with such a customer service like this means a lot.

Immediate Action Required

Dear Customer Service Team,

It is appalling to witness the unethical  treatment I have received regarding my booking (No. 88/2024-38079). Despite presenting all necessary evidence, you continue to deny my refund under false pretenses. As 48 hours have now passed since my formal request, I must inform you of the next steps I am initiating to hold Recordgo and its staff accountable for their deceitful practices.

Key Facts and Evidence:

1. “No Show” Accusation is False

• I did appear at the counter in Terminal 2 of Barcelona Airport on the designated date and time.

• I have video recordings and have already requested the Barcelona Airport Police to verify this through their security cameras. These recordings will clearly show that your staff at the counter refused to release the vehicle due to fabricated reasons.

2. False Information from Staff

• Your staff deliberately provided false assurances, claiming I could request a refund because the car could not be delivered. This assurance led me to trust the process, only to now face denial of my rightful refund.

• The claim that I have been in Spain for more than 6 months is a blatant lie. My passport clearly shows that I entered Spain on 22/06/2024, well within the 6-month limit allowed for foreign driving licenses under Spanish law.

Avoid - Extra Hidden Costs / Double Payments Taken

The only negative aspect of out holiday was our pre-booked hire car from RECORD GO. On collection we were told we needed to pay additional fees before the car would be given to us. We already paid for premium cover when booking the car *and made this very clear to the employee on collection - this included Roadside assistance and Insurance to cover any issues during our holiday. Luckily we didnt need to use any of this as I've been sent in circles trying to gain a basic refund for a double payment the company took from me.

The Record Go advisor would not let us take the car until we paid the extra hidden fees - amounting to £1300 including the deposit.

In addition to this - we were given no instructions on how to return the car, and when this time did come, we had no assistance and have never been able to speak directly to an employee.

Its 3 weeks since out holiday and I'm still owed money.

Post Hire High And Dishonest Cost

Record-go has charged us 340,40 Euros for a damage in our rental car that we have not caused.

I do not recommend using this company but if you do, please consider taking photos and videos at pickup and drop off times, inside and outside of the car. The due diligence that they should do at pickup and dropoff is missing, so it is left to customers to do part of the company job.

We have registered complaints with La Junta Arbitral del Transporte de Mallorca, Feneval, GOBI and with UKICC as British citizens.

Our rented car was a white Toyota Yaris with licensed plate number 5192MNT and it was rented up until 5th August 2024. The damage reported was on the right back of the car. I am sharing this information as I think this same damage could have been charged to many different customers.

In the first place Record-go gave us a car that was not safe to drive, the steering well kept making a noise when making any turn and when driving on any minor speed bump. They could not change the car at the time of pick up because they do not have a big enough fleet and ran out of cars by the time we requested a change. We were going to drive around Mallorca and this car did not feel safe to drive.

Hence we had to come back at 7am the next day to change the car. The lady who dealt with this change showed discomfort attending our demand and was very happy to leave us with that unsafe car. Finally she admitted that a new car was needed and gave us another one very quickly and did not inspect the car with us. She did not do any due diligence and we suspect the later charge in our card may have already been planned at this time, as a way of retaliation.

The car was returned with no damage and we had no issues when dropping it, as the drop-off kiosk was busy the employee who took the keys did not have the time to come with us to inspect the car and we were ok not to take his time as we have had no issues with the car, we were happy to leave it there for them.

Six hours later Record-go sent us an email informing us of a damage in the car and we were sent an invoice from Tasarauto Global Services S.L. with details of the repair needed and its cost. On top of that Record-go charged us 50 euros for Damage Admin Fee.

They attached 3 pictures and in none of them we can see both the damage and the plate number together.

We are certain that we have not caused this damage. The damage in the pictures they sent would have been heard if we were to do it while driving or parking and, if it was to be made while the car was parked, we would have seen it, specially it being a white car and the damage being very noticable. We checked the car around at drop off and the damage was not noticed, shame that we did not take pictures then. We have 2 young kids and it is not always easy to leave them out of the car in a busy parking while taking pictures for a possible later fraud that we didn't anticipate.

We hope this review helps others renting a car, please do not use Record-go, it seems cheaper than others but it is not in the end, it has been such an unpredicted and unbudgeted expense for us.

Record-go generates an automatic response to their reviews, it is always the same response, and as we are anticipating it here too, this is our response to their reply: No, you are not at the customer disposal at drop-off because no one from Record-go team came out to inspect the car with us, breaking your own contract. This is what you sign with customers in the contract:

"Un rental chequeará el vehículo el arrendatario a la devolución y se tendrán en cuenta sus alegaciones".

Beware Of Post Hire Invoices

Hired an overpriced damaged jeep renegade with so many miles and damage, was tricked into buying their insurance even though i had it already, one tyre was flat so had to put air in it everyday and I was told to bring it back full of fuel. I filled up at the station next to recordgo sevilla until it was pouring out of the tank, i dropped it off and the car was checked and signed off and then I was invoiced for fuel!l a few days later! I rejected their invoice but they took the money from my bank anyway!!!! Beware!!!

They have lost my customer forever for €14 how silly of them!

Beware Of Recordgo Palma De Mallorca!

They rent out cars that are already scratched on all sides, taking money from one customer after another without fixing the damage. Our experience was a nightmare. Due to a delayed flight, we arrived just 20 minutes before their office closed. We were rushed through the pickup process, given the keys, and had no time to return to the office when we noticed that one scratch wasn't marked on the contract sheet. We took photos of the car to have evidence for when we returned it.

When we picked up the car, the rental agent tried to upsell us on their full insurance for €245, despite us already having full coverage through booking.com. She implied that our existing insurance might not be sufficient and ironically wished us luck when we declined. This felt like the beginning of a premeditated sham.

Upon returning the vehicle, they claimed there was a small scratch that wasn’t noted during the initial inspection, even though the car was already covered in large scratches. Despite providing photos that clearly showed the scratch was pre-existing, the employee dismissed them, claiming they were unclear. It was obvious they were ignoring my proof on purpose.

In the end, they charged my credit card €276 for damage I didn’t cause, and customer service has completely ignored my complaints since. This company is a sham—avoid them at all costs!

Stevebrooksnz

Anyone know someone high up who responds to your complaints?

They refuse to answer my emails

Refuse send my paperwork

Have taken €1700 and refuse to engage at all.

Seems very very dodgy!

StanDeMancini

Definitely not a nice company to deal with (see my review). Unfortunately, I don't know anyone high up to complain to. I would advise using the chargeback facility if you paid by credit card. The onus is then on RecordGo to respond to the credit card issuer. If they don't, you get to keep the chargeback.
