Impressive

I've been using mutants since they launched. I'm on my second 5/4, have a 4/3 and even an early 3/2. They have all fitted well, been flexible and durable.

The 4/3 was a limited run technobutter suite which I used through 8 months of the year for 3 years and it's finally worn out I sold my old 5/4 and got a new 5/4 which is made of ultrastretch DS. Not as flexible as the tb suit but more than flexible enough and a bit warmer (has TB in the body).

I've also invested in a hyperflex 4/3 which is super stretchy to replace my old mutant 4/3. All in all great suits, well made. I'm sure they'll switch to tb3 in a couple of years which will make them even better. Best value for quality avaliable.

One Of The Best

I have a medium sized suit and although it is fairly tight around the neck I love the suit as it's warm and keeps cold water out. I use this in the very very cold water of the Atlantic off of Nova Scotia, Canada.I have Been Body boarding in water around 38 degrees and have been able to stay in a considerable amount of time ( With gloves and booties of course!) If you look after the suit it will last! Highly recommend.

Falls Apart After 1season

Really warm suit but after one season the leg seams went first-lots of the black stuff and patches for repairs. Now the neck has gone totally unrepairable. Rubbish durability.

Good Design, Poor Materials

Really warm suit and super stretchy. The hood/neck seal idea is good but you can get flushing through the quite short zip system when using the hood. Overall very warm in uk winter (sea temps 7-8 degrees C)BUT seams and edges started to part and fray within 6 months and I'm spending a fortune on black gue stuff to stick patches of old suit over the rips. It'll keep me going another season- just I hope.

Cheap Materials

was a great suit in the beggining i have it for about 3 or 4 months ivebeen wearing it about once a week or twice a weak and the materials on the inside are garbage! yeh its super stretchy but from normal wear and tare the inside layers are stretching to the point where its getting ripped thats not suppose to happen to a 350 dollar suit or even a 100 dollar suit at the end of the day it keeps you nice and toasty in any weather but why the hell do oniel deserve credit for that thats what its suppose to do the key would be to use better quality materials for the inside layers so they dont rip on you after 4 uses!!! i wish i knew this would happen before because it would be worth the extra 150 bucks to get a suit that wil llast

Great Suit

Used this for the last couple of days West Coast of Ireland. Superb suit, better than my old psycho ii which was the best i ever had before. It is the devil to get out of though, and can get really painful if you're a fat old fella like myself. Surprisingly light, virtually no water flush. Hood works well, though i hate wearing hoods. Would recommend as main winter suit...

These Wetties Suck!!!

o'neill mutant wetties are bad!! complete waste of money!! flush through the entry system because o'neill didn't see fit to use elastic draw string!! had to sow some in myself. all the seams fell apart after 18 months. granted when new it was warm and comfortable but that only lasted 6 months!! if you want a decent wettie buy an e-bomb!! same price, last way way way longer, lighter and way more stretchy!!!

I Grew Up Near Santa Cruz And I Hated Oneil Wetsui

I grew up near Santa Cruz and I hated Oneil wetsuits because I found them to be too trendy with features that didn't work or last. I love the front zip approach and Xcel stopped standing by it's products so the local surf shop owner recommended the Mutant. O'neil? No way! He convinced me and I ended up convincing all my friends. Warm, flexible, light, hood or no hood, when it is nearly new you will barely notice water seeping in. It is NOT tough to get into this suit for a normal sized guy. I've had mine for 3+ years and it is finally time to replace. Getting another one.

I'm Surprised That So Many People Have Had Difficu

I'm surprised that so many people have had difficulty getting in & out of this suit. Granted, it takes a little getting used to if you've previously only worn budgie smugglers! I've had suits from nineplus, second skin, billabong, rhino & other o'neills that were all more difficult. V happy with this suit; I've had no flushing, plenty of flexibility, & sessions where the last thing you're thinking about is the suit. Just please GET THE RIGHT SIZE! If it's snug in the shop, remember that it gives 5-6% when it's wet...

I Have Had The Mutant Now For About 18 Months And

I have had the Mutant now for about 18 months and it is definately the best suit i've ever had! The fit of the Mutant is incredible and is superlight and absolutely toasty even in the deepest UK winter. Hardly get a dribble of flush through and any flush you get is wicked away in seconds! Uber flexible and easy to put on with a bit of practise. The hood is awesome, it stays in place and is totally adjustable. The material and design of the Mutant is incredible particularly the neck-seal which is extremely comfortable and doesn't choke you like some other top-range front zippers on the market. As mentioned before, the wicking action of the suit is awesome and the ankle cuffs are super snug but allow water to be wicked away preventing the old 'bag' effect in the lower leg like so many other suits. The kneepads are another standout feature and are tough as hell and are in the same condition as when i bought it. The Mutant is bomb proof and has survived being dumped on Porthleven reef several times and various impacts with my own board with only the slightest of marks on the suit, even though my knee, ribs and lower back didn't fare so well. Overall I can't reccommend the O'Neill Mutant enough if you want to surf all day and stay warm and dry.
