Only Good When They’re Taking Your Money

I dared to complain about a repeated fault, even though I had two habitation checks with them in order to keep my warranty in place it seems when I poi nted out that the leak was still ongoing they tried to tell me it was meant to do that ( pouring out of the top of fresh water tank like a waterfall) . I had given them video evidence on video of this leak , The service desk are there to get rid of you when there is a problem . I complained to the service (director) he told me to “ go elsewhere”. And refused to do any warranty repairs . Avoid this company like the plague , if you see any good reviews it’s probably while they were taking your money .

I wrote to the managing directors but they didn’t even bother to acknowledge that .

Nice Enough When Handing Money Over

They don't want to know you if you have a problem after purchaseing a motorhome from them, as the title says nice enough until you hand over your cash, avoid at all costs, I wouldn't buy a wheelbarrow from them

Completely Misleading

Preston Caravan and Motorhomes’ website clearly states: “the integrated Aftersales Department who can cater for all caravan & motorhome servicing, parts and warranty requirements.”

I had to send a request for a motorhome service again after my email had been ignored for a week. Then ‘Service Advisor’ advised that I wasn’t on their system and in a second email that “We’re not Dethleff agents and we don’t do the major vehicle services here.” What I wanted was a service for a Fiat Ducato, one of the most popular base vehicles (cab and chassis) for a wide range of motorhomes and campervans. The website nowhere mentions any limit on what he calls ‘major’ or that servicing is confined to their own sales. Meanwhile the Warranty Administrator had also written to say that I didn’t exist on their system, so no surprise there.

This is an NCC approved workshop (no 1589) which should, among much else, be a ‘benchmark for motorhome and touring caravan servicing in the UK’, so the customer will know ‘that the right things are done, by the right people and to a high standard’ and that the workshops ‘are run by fully qualified caravan and motorhome servicing professionals.’ How are Preston Caravan and Motorhomes doing?

I’ve been travelling for over 30 years, wearing my way through 5 motorhomes, 3 caravans and 2 vans, living and travelling in every European country and including three round-the-world journeys each lasting one year. There are two issues here. Why can’t Preston Caravan and Motorhomes be clear on their website exactly what services, if any, they offer to motorhomers and caravanners in general, and why can’t they be more courteous when explaining that what is written on the website cannot be trusted? I have had much better service in a Turkish Oto (=Auto) Bazaar!

Handover Or Had Over

Took our caravan in for trade in after agreeing a price only to be told an absolute pack of lies by the appraisal guy, on leaving their site totally dissatisfied by their treatment, I took my caravan back to our service centre with the report they had conjured up, bottom line is they told us exaggerated claims tried to hoodwink us out of 2k on the deal, after talking to others in our club this seems to be the modus operandi for this outfit, needless to say I will not ever go back to them I will also advise anyone else to tread very carefully with any dealing with this outfit, we have had another full report form our service centre and there are no issues at all with our van that would warrent a 2 k reduction and the price they offered in the first place was the bare minimum, we have since visited several other dealers with our van so they can evaluate it there and then all offered considerably more to trade up and we finished up buying a caravan over 27k so Prestons clean up your act get some moral back bone and stop ripping people off with your lies and exaggerations

Terrible Service

We purchased a brand new caravan from them last year which was great but when we took it back for a service and a wash at around £340.00 we got our van back still dirty as it hadn't been cleaned properly.. The van was also handed back to us with it's front compartment latch missing, when I asked what had happened to it the service staff said it was already missing to which I found farcical as I had to unlock it for them in front of them... Needless to say they never replaced it.. And on getting the van ready for a trip we discovered the microwave was now no longer working

We spent 10s of thousands with Preston caravans on a brand new van and have been brushed aside when we complaind

I would be very cautious if using them for you're van service

Not As Stated

I am very disgusted by the way I have been treated by PRESTON CARAVANS over the purchase of a WEINSBERG campervan from their hire fleet.

It is only my second purchase of a vehicle of this type so blame my own lack of experience in part and feel that I have been taken for a fool which does not feel good at all.

I was attracted initially by online advertising of a 3 year old 130hp (higher powered), Fiat Ducato based Weinsberg Carabus 600K which seem to exactly fit my requirements. After 3 visits to Preston from my home in Nottingham I drove away in the vehicle and traded in my beloved Ford Transit which by then had 90,000 on the clock.

It was only after getting the V5 back from DVLC and checking all the paperwork carefully that I realised the vehicle sold to me by Preston Caravans wasn’t 130hp at all but the lower powered 120hp model which according to my local Fiat dealers stopped being manufactured as a base model in 2016.

I immediately contacted Preston Caravans then less than two weeks after the purchase and after initially ignoring me, did fully admit that a mistake had been made in advertising the vehicle incorrectly which they claimed to not be deliberate and to have no financial consequences. In the circumstances, they had little choice but to offer me a full refund although my previous vehicle could no longer be returned and they have not been prepared to countenance any compensation for my consequential losses which as anyone would appreciate would be considerable.

I am now left with the unenviable choice of taking back the vehicle to Preston Caravans for a refund that does not include my consequential costs and not even leaving me a vehicle to drive away in OR to retain a vehicle that has been sold to me on misrepresented information which will be less powerful and with lower fuel economy than expected throughout it’s life for which Preston Caravans have offered to compensation me precisely nothing.

Yes, we made a big mistake but no, we are not prepared to contribute anything towards the consequential costs of putting it right.

They strike me as one of those dinosaur organisations who believe the customer is there to serve them rather than the other way around.

Incidentally we also bought an uber expensive LPG gas bottle from them when we went to collect the vehicle which both their sales and service staff assured us was compatible with the fittings in the campervan. Not only was this proved to be complete nonsense but it has so far proved impossible to get the correct fittings to make this work so we are still using a single ring gas fitting from GO Outdoors for cooking. Seriously not impressed.
