Great Fun Classic Car
I've owned 3 Vitesses, a Mk1 1600 Convertible and 2 Mk2 Convertibles.
They are obviously a "classic" car so my ratings are in comparison to other cars of this type.
The Vitesse is a great car, it performs well and is very easy to work on. It has no major issues apart from the usual older car items such as checking for corrosion etc. It's one of the few genuine 4-seat convertibles and you can get a presentable one for under five thousand pounds.
Handling is good as long as you don't go mad. The front suspension "trunnions" have to be kept lubricated (with gear oil not grease) or there's a risk of them collapsing.
The Mk2 had better rear suspension but the Mk1 is fine and in my opinion the Mk1 dash is nicer.
Parts are easy to get and are not expensive.
The Vitesse is a good motorway car (in classic car terms anyway) but the optional overdrive is desirable. If you are not bothered about a convertible the saloon version is a great car too, and much cheaper to buy.

Best Car I Have Ever Owned, Not Perfect, But Close
Best car I have ever owned, not perfect, but close enough.
Best bang for the buck, under-rated classic, great style.
I aim to keep this auto until they pry it from my cold dead hands!

I have driven plenty of so called better cars, but the Vitesse just gives a perfect blend of fun, and always leaves me and anyone who sees it smiling.
