Sold Within 8 Months From New As It Was So Dangerous
I purchased this lovely looking RECON GREEN 75th ANNIVERSARY from new in Essex 8 months ago.
Within a matter of months the stop/start function stopped in heavy traffic on the motorway and wouldn't restart. When traffic began moving i was left in the middle lane in a dangerous situation. After the calls to the recovery I got out of the car and rocked it. I then started it and it worked. It turned out out that the battery became disconnected.
2 months later whilst driving at 50mph the engine light came on and the car dropped immediately to 10mph and sounded terrible. I turned around and got home. The car was then taken and several NEW parts ordered including the oil pump. The dealership would not let me see the warranty sheet and said it was Jeep policy to not show the customer what had gone wrong.
The heating on the passenger side broke down and the dealer had to replace it.
No one in my family felt safe in the car which continue to judder. We have just sold it and lost £12,000 but you have to put safety first. Customer SErvice for Jeep UK is virtually non existent. Try calling them and eventually you get diverted to english speaking people in Italy who are not interested. I asked them to confirm it was safe to drive and she said yes. I said I would like to record that and she then said she was not prepared to say that an 8 month old Jeep was safe.
AFTER CARE service is really important and its not until you need it that you find Jeep are not interested. I was told by the Dealer that there are many many complaints about the Cherokee (not the Grand Cherokee which seemed to be more robust) and that if it broke down and put me in danger one more time Jeep would probably give me a replacement. NO THANKS.
Would anyone lose the £7000 deposit and £5,000 payment to clear the PCP for an 8 month old car unless it really is that dangerous. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY A JEEP.
