Card Repeatedly Blocked Abroad Despite Advising Travel Plans
Card is blocked every time we go away and we spend the precious little time we should be relaxing oh holiday, on the phone to our bank!
This is despite having repeated the process the week before departure to tell them we're going away, what the dates are, where we're going, and which cards we are taking.
I actually (after another 45 minute call this evening) managed to establish with their staff, that even if we log all of our travel arrangements with them, there is still a good chance that a machine will override it and place a block. Apparently the staff at Lloyds TSB are unable to do anything about this.
So be warned people - I've banked with them for a decade, and am now looking around for a new bank.
Holidays are what you spend your entire working life looking forward to, and despite this, Lloyds TSB are prepared to repeatedly spoil them for their customers, to save themselves a few quid.
That, and it takes an average of two calls totalling between 30 minutes to an hour to get any sort of useful response, to an 0845 number at lots of pence per minute.
so true. please update with the new bank you have found, am looking myself.

Card Blocked Abroad
card security blocked on holiday and left with 0 cash, called as soon as got home and given several different versions of why it happened (that was when I finally managed to get through 2 1/2 hours later!) customer service is absolutely appalling, internet banking is useless and unreliable. changing banks as soon as I can. save your energy and sanity!!
Visa Debit Dispute
After 3 months no reply from Lloyds TSB Visa Dispute. Just been on the phone on their premium number for 20 minutes. Worst service ever!
I opened a classic bank account with Lloyds TSB on Monday this week and I was issued with a debit card. I received the card on Friday and used it to make three purchases online. I went to use it this morning to do the same and it was declined. I wentt to the bank and they said it was due to using an expired card! I hadn't been with them before , they took block off my card and then said it should be ok but I've yet to try and check if ok. I only spent around 200 pound. Perhaps they have a limit I don't know .

Tsb Business Debit Card
Me and my wife run a small shop and mail order business, we use or at least try to use our TSB business debit card to pay for stock, but find the card is repeatedly being stopped, we order from suppliers on a daily basis have done now for the last 3 or 4 years, we try to pay for all incoming items before they are dispatched so as not to run up huge bills through the course of a month, over the past 3 months our suppliers seem to be having trouble taking money, when we call the bank they say that the transaction looks suspicious, though these are the same companies that we have dealt with in the same way for the last 3 years, our bank balance as never been healthier so it is not funds related but is beginning to have a negative effect on the daily running of our business i.e. orders not getting sent out on time due to delays with products coming in, it also makes our suppliers feel we are going out of business due to payments being declined. We have been trying to sort this with a business or branch manager now since August but our meetings keep getting cancelled at the last minute, feels like banging my head against a wall, anyone thinking of opening an account with these cowboys should reconsider.
I tried to send money to my nat west brokerline account which i have done for 15 years and kept getting blocked and gave up trying,i finally transfered the 150k to thailand where i live at 30k a time, and paid dearly for it at about 10% less than the going rate if i had cash
Totally agree with above. Evertime I try to buy something online, I get a message payment has been declined by the bank. Just dont understand, if I have to spend my hard earned money why is the bank doing this..
I have had trouble with my Lloyds TSB Debit Card, though I have a personal one. I think I went shopping with it at our local precinct. After about 3 purchases, I ended up in Waitrose and the card transaction was declined. Reason : Fraud. Just because I had dared to spend a bit of money (not even a hundred pound) they pulled the pug because I had carried out possibly three transactions in close succession. I don't know who writes the software but they patronisingly tell me that its all for my own protection - yeah, right !
Your son can notify the bank that he is in Thailand and for how long and they can make provisions to ensure that the problem is reduced significantly.
My son is having similar problems, they block credit and debit cards second time. As he is back packing Thailand / Vietnam he seems to be having major problems. Blocked twice now. He could find himself with no access to funds despite having money in his account. They say there is a high volume of fraud and they have to make sure it is my son using the cards. But they phone me here in England to confirm the transaction was made by my son, but then voice the data protection act that cannot be discuss with me......... Nightmare
Pin Works By Atm, But Not When You Try Buy Something. Huh??
the sooner i close my account the better. get me in a cooperative pronto!

Lloyds Persistently Decline My Debit Card!
In the last couple of years, Lloyds have habitually declined my card transactions for no apparent reason! If I stick just to going to the local Sainsbury's, they let it through OK; but anything else seems to be classified as 'suspicious'. Consequently, I end up making lots of expensive phone calls trying to persuade their hopelessly inefficient and unhelpful 'Helpline' to let me buy something . . .

Having Had My Card Declined Again I Feel Compelled
Having had my card declined again I feel compelled to write a review of this atrocious bank. Their customer service, aggressive selling of loans and credit cards every time I go into a branch, poor internet banking and "security" are a disgrace.
Apparently trying to book tickets through 2 different sites is "suspicious behaviour".
I tried to book tickets through SNCF as their system is slightly ahead of Eurostar.
When the payment was declined I assumed the site was at fault and tried again on Eurostar (now showing the correct price). Transaction declined.
On calling internet security I was informed that a recent transaction for 2 plane tickets was the reason my card had been blocked. The airline processed 2 separate tickets 1 second apart and boom, my card is blocked.
This has also happened when I travel abroad several times and they never make any effort to contact me for confirmation.
The one occasion that there was a real fraudulent transaction (an ipad) on my account it went through without alerting the security system.
Every time I go in to the bank I am asked to take out a loan and credit card. Saying no thanks politely is clearly not enough to stop the aggressive marketing as they try to persuade several times. I once had an argument with a sales person who insisted that they could save me money. I explained that their maths was flawed, the basics of interest rates and had to end the conversation. Aggressive, ignorant and decptive behaviour from Lloyds TSB.
Another occasion Lloyds decided it would be a good idea to send out promotional introductory cheques for loans in the post.
Suddenly £7000 was taken off my credit card.
After I called fraud department and explained what had happened and that sending out several thousand pound cheques in the post is maybe not a good idea I asked them to assure me that no further mail would be sent.
It happened again. Twice.
Their internet banking doesnt or didnt support firefox.
Exporting bank statements was broken and they reversed the order of transactions in the statement.
£300 limit on cash machine withdrawals.
If you call and ask where the nearest branch is to a certain tube station in central London they will not be able to tell you, even if you demand to speak to a manager.
Goodbye Lloyds TSB.

When I Opened My Account, They Failed To Tell Me T
When i opened my account, they failed to tell me that my card could only be used in Lloyds cash machines. I didn't find out til I had gone to departures in the airport and tried to withdraw money from the cash machine and it refused me. No shops did cash back and I even tried to buy forign currency on my card from the exchange counter but to no avail. Rang Llyods crying my eyes out telling them I was about to board a plane and had no oney to be told I needed to sign something that will 'unlock' my card. I asked to do it over the phone as I was in the departure lounge but they refused. I had to go on holiday for ten days with o money. My partner also had his account frauded by £70. Lloyds refunded him then randomly took it back again 2 months later sending him overdrawn. Lots of bank trips and phone calls later it was refunded again to him. This took over a month. Thier service is appalling and we are both changing banks.

If You Use You Lloyds Visa Debit Card To Buy Euros
If you use you Lloyds Visa debit card to buy Euros from an exchange in the UK. Visa will deem this to be a "foreign transaction" and impose 1.5% charge with a maximum of £4.50.
Apparently this is somewhere in the small print (still looking).
I thought using a debit card in the UK was just like paying cash or cheque.
You have been warned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Incorrect. This is not a foreign transaction charge, because you are not using your card abroad. This is a foreign exchange charge which the bank decides to charge you. Far from ideal but it is in the small print (I checked before I bought travel money). Simple remedy is to not use the card for that particular purchase.
I have a lloyds platium account I bought euros from a money exchange as the rate was higher and I used my debit card and produced my passport as I didnot wont to carry cash, and I was charged 4.50, this is very wrong as I already pay a supplement each month for the privalage to have this card, after reading your report I did not have any idea that they were able to charge, going into bank tomorrow as I am upset.
Q&A
Have I got a case against lloyds tsb for allowing me to online gamble £40000 without contacting me or blocking my debit card?? I've been a compulsive gambler for about 8 years and have been allowed to continue gambling pretty much unrestricted by lloyds tsb to the point of increasing my overdraft to. £3000 and still be allowed to gamble whilest in my overdraft..and not even a phone call!! Never mind having the card blocked!! Have I got a case against the bank for failed duty of care or not protecting my money..even though it was me who gambled it?? Surely the bank should've intervened before now..any legal or otherwise would be greatly appreciated cause am pretty much broke..
