I chose Purplecv to complete my CV as I am due to semi-retire. This companies main base is in Kingston according to the website. After applying, I had a call from a lady who discussed what CV I would need. I was told the cost would be £80, which she took of me straight away over the phone, no deposit taken, just the whole lot even before any work was done.

I was then assigned a male contact who started my CV using 'key' words which future employers look for. Now, I consider myself pretty good at English grammar so when I received drafts of my CV I was more than disappointed with the level of poor... sorry... terrible grammar used. It also looked like standard cut and pasting was used throughout.

I complained about this and they said it would be reviewed, but by that time I had had enough and asked a family member who is an English lecturer to look at it.

She too was appalled at the state of my CV and ended up helping me redo it.

Total waste of £80 and I had no offer of a refund or reduction. I will never use this company again and you are advised just to do-it-yourself to be honest unless you thoroughly research the company beforehand.

The only good thing was that the initial caller probably had a commission payment for getting me to sign up.

The owner should be embarrassed by the level of service, I for one have learned my lesson...
