Hotpoint SHS31X Oven

This was supplied by Currys in exchange for the LOGIK unit which was very unsatisfactory and returned. The Hotpoint oven was chosen because it had a mechanical bell type minute minder which is very easy to use, loud and clear to hear and you can see the amount of time gone by. The oven door and light are amazingly clear to see what's happening. Also chosen because the temperature control is nicely graded in regular steps so the serious cook can set it accurately. The grill unit heats up fairly quickly and is set up so that it makes good toast. The grill pan provided is a little clumsy and stiff, so we use the smaller one from our former Creda double oven which is much easier.

The oven fans are very quiet, unlike the LOGIK one.

One drawback is due to the lightweight construction. It does not hold heat. So if you open the oven door, the whole thing cools down quite quickly, eg when you put food in to start. It feels slightly underpowered as a result. This makes it necessary to increase the cooking temperature and time a bit to compensate....a question of getting used to this.

But the cooking results have been good and, with Currys Black Friday discount, the value for money is excellent. We decided on a basic level cooker because of our house going to be on sale shortly.

Curry's service over the return and resupply, direct from Hotpoint, were quite speedy and in time for the holiday break.
