Hipshow Riding Stables, Cumbria

4 friends and I visited last year..my friend requested a large horse for me as I'm always given the small fat cob

As I'm short. They wheeled out the small fat cob and frankly the other horses were less than we expected.

More worrying was the next day when sadly one of the horses developed colic and had to be out to sleep. This horse is still in the website more than a year later.!!!.

Ride leaders were grumpy. So we cancelled our last day.

One horse was so unfit my friend refused to canter her. To be honest I would not have considered putting a review until I saw the horse that was enchanted still being advertised.

Myself and my daughter had a fantastic three day riding holiday at Hipshow for her 21st Birthday present. I'll start with the horses, since that was the main reason we were there. They were big, beautiful and were always ready on time for a prompt start to the rides. Although relaxed and well behaved at all times, the horses were never reluctant to go forward so riding was stress free. We had a different ride every day through lovely countryside; it was always interesting and the views were amazing. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, and the accommodation was lovely too. Breakfast was delicious and brought to us each morning in our apartment to set us up for the day ahead. This holiday was everything I'd hoped it would be, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

great 4 days and was really impressed with the horses and staff. Weather wasnt the best however it didnt take from the scenery and fantastic horses we rode. I would deffo go back they were lovely. Our accomadation was lovely. What i did like was that they are so passionate about the horses and look after them great. Both myself and my friend are missing it already and would recommend it to my friends. Brenda and Jill

My husband and I have just spent the weekend at hipshow. Lovely accomodation and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. My husband has never ridden before and was given a 17.1 hunter, wich worried me slightly. My concerns soon dissapeared. He thoroughly enjoyed it, and his horse couldnt have looked after him better. My horse was amazing. Forward going, but really safe. I had chance to have a good blast, while my husband was taken on a slower route, before we joined up again. The staff were fantastic and the horses beautiful and well schooled.We will definately be going back. The rides were exciting, and the scenery outstanding.

we had a riders of mixed abilities, but Anna and Kate made sure we all had a good time, some of us cantering, some just walking and trotting.

I wouldn't recommend the day ride, it's very expensive. There is a lot of road work, not what I expected in the picturesque Lakes. There are very few canters and they are quite short and slow, we didn't get a gallop. My horse wasn't that speedy.

The people were lovely, and the scenery very nice, but the cost, roadwork and lack of speed means I won't be going back. There are far better places.

We had an excellent time.Very friendly people,horses and great places to hack out.

Caitlin really enjoyed riding Jade and we hope to see you again in the near future.

Really enjoyed Hipshow. Hacked out with a novice friend on Sunday for an hour and a half, and I really would reccommend it! Even though I was on the novice ride, they arranged it to enable me to have a good old blast on an alternative route within the vicinity of the party.

I'll definitely be back to experience one of their fast hacks.

Very friendly staff and i supose if you are an experianced rider it would be good.

but my horse was discribed as good for complete beginners and my wifes suitable for children so how come, her horse bolted spooked mine which reared up and through me off now 4 mths on i am still waiting for my ankle to repair.

we have horses of our own and they would never have done what these horses did. I'm not saying this is a bad riding stables if you are a competant rider but please think twice if your not

My partner and I have had a fantastic weekend at Hipshow Riding Stables, Friendy staff and fantastic horses, accomodation is also good. We will be booking again. If I could give more than five stars then i would. A BIG THANK YOU to Anna, Martin and Kate for making our stay so enjoyable.
