Having Eaten African Carribean Food Before We Were

Having eaten African carribean food before we were keen to try embe and was not disappointed the food was fresh and with fantastic flavours. The atmosphere is just as you would expect with live music from time to time. Nick the owner along with all his staff make you feel really welcome and are very attentive. The menu is not extensive but has a good selection available and is good value. We would definitely be going again

Afro / Caribbean Cuisine Is Well Worth A Try!

Never having tried West Indian food before, we didn't want to part with a lot of money in case we didn't like it, so a fantastic deal through 'Groupon' was the perfect solution. We went to EMBE in Burghley Road, Peterborough during a Saturday lunchtime and had a really good experience.

The restaurant was unfortunately not busy which was a shame because it deserves to be, but we were given a warm welcome and the waiter couldn't have been more attentive to our needs.

The decor is appropriate, with an old piano against one wall, Tamla / Soul music played in the background.

We had Gambas & Mushrooms and Kamba Salad to start, both excellent flavours, fresh and tangy. Maybe could have been a little more generous with the prawns in the Gambas & Mushrooms as I only had two, but the dish was lovely nonetheless.

Main course was Yassa Chicken and Jambalaya - again both were very good and we had a side dish of fried plantain to try. The chef came and asked us whether we'd eaten West Indian food before, and went out of his way to ensure that the level of heat from the chillies in the dishes was exactly right for our tastes.

We didn't have dessert but had a glass of house red and white with our meal and both were good - Stowells if I remember correctly.

Would definately recommend the restaurant and it's good to know that there is still a market for individuals to crack something different - good luck to EMBE and thanks for a great meal.
