Currently use an old original TomTom Go which is over 10 years old and it still knocks spots off most of the built in sat navs that car manufacturers are putting into their vehicles today. The traffic master smart nav was built into my Citroen Dispatch. I found it to be most un-user friendly, un- reliable pile of rubbish I have ever seen. My dispatch is a 09 plate and was only just 3 years old with 23K on the clock. I bought it from a used approved Citroen dealer and it came with 1 year Citroen warranty. I had a number for month’s free subscription to use it. I contacted traffic master due to its reliability as it was so slow it would direct me to turn right 3 junction after the junction I needed. Customer services said that there was a weak signal/connection and an engineer would have to come to site to look at it at £200.00 and that did not guarantee a repair.

Well you can imagine what I said and it was not polite!

The Citroen warranty would not cover it because that particular part of the vans electrics was not covered by the warranty?

Any way Traffic Master has not improved as a friend like my van so much he bought one brand new on a 14 plate. It has a fancy upgraded screen with a colour display which shows the route on a map but it still as rubbish as mine.

My recommendation is not to buy a car with a built in satnav. Most of the still run on a DVD instead of an SD card. I have had use of lots of different sat navs and tomtom is in my opinion the best and extremely good value for money.

This device came with the van I have, It is entirely unsuitable to be used for any of its intended purposes.

Slow, unresponsive, inaccurate, badly designed in every possible way.

Regularly takes over an hour after entering a postcode to display directions, sometimes just gives up entirely. Resets it's self when it feels like. Traffic avoidance and eta are a compete joke. Miss a turn and have to pull over and wait 5 minutes before it will redirect you.

Not even remotely exaggerating - just buy a map book, you will get where you are going much quicker and much less angry. I hope nobody has paid their own money for one of these things...

This is fake automated traffic. I have been a freelance web developer for many years and I am finishing my MSc in Computer Science. Recently my client asked could I boost traffic so I went for it and purchase a package from traffic masters. I was admittedly naive because I haven't purchased traffic before.

I used multiple very advanced analytics tools including gosquared, G Analytics and WP JetPack. The observations I made from this traffic was:

* All the traffic comes within 30 seconds each day

* All comes from the same URL

* The IP Addresses they supply are fake once I ran a couple of tests. A couple weren't even real IP Address - just random numbers with dots.

I was talking about my observations with a customer service rep who avoided answering the question "Is This fake traffic?" See then went on to say that my analytics wouldn't pick this up because they were pop under advertisements which is absolutely garbage - anybody who know anything about the web or HTTP Requests / Responses will tell you this.

They are just taking your money. I high recommend you don't purchase from these charlatans and invest your efforts into White Hat techniques.

Having recently been given a 14 plate Citroen Dispatch by my company I was quite excited to have the completely overrated SmartNav installed. What a complete load of utter crap!! I have wasted more time taking out my iPhone and using Google Maps to get me out of the poo than I have actually using the system.

The live traffic doesn't work, I've been stuck in 3 mile tailbacks due to accidents twice now, route plans are slow and indirect and when I've drifted off course and had no GSM signal I've been left without direction as the system isn't capable of working offline!

I have now purchased CoPilot Live full download, full Europe for my iPhone and iPad. It was £35 with a year free live traffic subscription and it hasn't got me lost once.

Sold my car 3 months ago and forgot to cancel my traffic master account and more importantly direct debit. I just noticed that the DD went through for this coming qtr. I asked TM for a refund - they said that the small print of the T&C's says they don't refund. So i asked for a good will gesture to compensate me towards some the money they had taken out - they said NO - we don't do goodwill! .... do you really want to deal with a company like that - i won't be ever again.

We got ours with a Citroen Berlingo , Honestly it really is a RUBBISH PRODUCT. The Hardware constantly breaks down. And it actively seeks out traffic. If you want a device that SEEKS TRAFFIC, waste your money on this. Why does Citroen actively push this system, I can only assume they are getting kick backs.

I signed for 3 years after 2 months it was not working this guy Mark Oneill who was a manager was a useless mong dont bother

The Smartnav unit came fitted in a new Citroen Berlingo van. Trafficmaster have had 5 attempts at getting it to work. Totally rubbish product.

The idea is excellent.

Unfortunately during busy times or in areas where there is no mobile data coverage it simply does not work for me. I have waited for ages driving over a hundred miles before the route has been delivered while listening to the message "the mobile phone network was unable to deliver your route smartnav is trying again" this is repeated over and over until the route is delivered.

Yesterday I tried to find a business postcode in Rochdale only to be taken to the middle of a housing estate one mile from the actual address, and yes I did check the postcode was correct.

I have regularly complained to Trafficmaster but all they do is refresh the software or so they say. It does not appear to make any difference.

After two years I will not be renewing my contract.

The system is very expensive to buy and install and maintain, what a waste of money.

we have been using them for nearly two years (dont ask why we have stuck it out so long, i think pure lazyness to cancel them actually and hope they would eventually fix it...pfft)

where do we start....

while the website looks modern, the staff DO try to help (mainly diverted to their american call centre) the software looks good, is actually over technical, it could have been made to be much more user friendly for the staff who arent a complete nerd.

the updates are SOO SOO Slow, its unbelievable, the amount of times we have called an engineer accusing them of not being at a job or still lying in bed... AND BANG... 15 minutes later it updates and tells us they have been there all morning!! very embarrassing for office staff and annoying for the engineer..

this is not a one off, or occassional problem... this is every day... every single day.. about 50% of the time trying to use this software.

would never recommend and would never recommend using Fleet Director as a company to track your company vehicles.
