Lying About Wasps
What can I say? It was WASP hell just got back from there for 2 weeks from my first holiday abroad it was swarming got stung 3 times through no fault of my own no flapping about. Half of the wasps hover round you then go and the other half are so persistant have a swat or six handy lol couldn't relax as to this on the other hand if you take the bus out to marbella hotel about an hour away the beach is stoney but the water is so clear and best of all hardly a wasp insight heaven because they spray we were told in kavos the wasps were at large because it was grape season in september however after now reading other reviews from others in other months I very much doubt it and people using quads or mopeds get stung the most we stayed at alexander apartments 10 minute walk away from the strip basic rooms very clean and quiet george the barman was lovely aswell as dina if you want good traditional greek food head down to the restaurant pifkos (pine tree) lovely place family run been handed down from generation he will make any thing you want just let him know the day before and it will be fresh another great eatery is the drunken squid and the best bar we found was the ice bar for the best cocktails overall the holiday was okay
Amazing Seafood
couldnt ask for more and the staff genuinely had time for you, gutted i wennt for the first time on my last night!
The Rose Tree Taverna Was Absolutely Stunning I Ne
The Rose Tree taverna was absolutely stunning I never had better food anywhere not even here. It was that nice we went for breakfast and dinner. The food is cheap the drink is cheap and the owner and his family are brilliant. It was our friends birthday while we were there so he organised a bbq. Had a cake, bottles of champagne balloons. Really great restaurant. If you go to Aspro Kavos you have to go to this restaurant!!!!!!!!!!!! This restaurant is the best ever. He also has a flat upstairs that you can rent out. There was only one bad point and that was the wasps but the owner would come and get them away from you if he wasn't busy.
Great Time Of The Year To Go As A Family. Not Too
Great time of the year to go as a family. Not too noisy, later in the year it would be a no go area for children.
Holiday Completely And Utterly Spoilt By Wasps, Co
Holiday completely and utterly spoilt by wasps, could not go anywhere without being bothered by them during the day.
Apartments were not a good choice, too many kids and a small pool.
However, other Hotels and complexes welcomed everyone but we still couldn't settle because of the wasps!
The Greeks Are Friendly To People, But You Have To
The Greeks are friendly to people, but you have to respect them and remember you're in their country. When we went to Corfu we had air conditioning, which meant it was freezing at night. Kavos has an excellent atmosphere, and everyone is very friendly, and you're guaranteed a great night and morning out (for the 24 hour party people)!
We Stayed In Olympion Village, Which Was A Really
We stayed in olympion village, which was a really good choice, everything is brand new, as its only 3 months old. We had satellite TV, Air Conditioning, and DVD. The pool, Bar (open until 6am), and restaurant are excellent. The staff there are really friendly and helpful.
Kavos itself is a bit tacky, but as long as you are not expecting some nice greek town, you will be ok, and it is not wise to visit in the day time, however at night, non of this matters, there are loads of cool bars (rolling stone), and clubs, offering various drink promotions. The PRs outside the bars are annoying, but you get used to them. There are also some good places to eat, the majority of the dishes offered are english, but there is also some good greek stuff, check out roussos, on the beach. also try and go to a greek bbq, sooo good!
The beach at Kavos is nasty, really narrow, with sea weed and ugly brown sand, best to stick by the pool, or go on a boat trip to a better beach, the blue lagoon is pretty.
We booked with Kosmar, who were really good! There was always a rep. to get hold of if you needed help. However, they did let us down at the end by forgetting to pick us up from our appartment for the transfer to the airport. It was such a nightmare, we were very stressed, which wasn't helped by only having 2 hours sleep previously, and a killer hangover. In the end we had to take a taxi to the airport (it takes 1 hour. They paid!!.. It was a mad rush through the airport, as we had to be escorted through security, and if we had been 5 minutes later, we would have missed the plane. However, apart from that, the trip went very smoothly.
One of the best things about Kavos, is the high proportion of males to females, it has got to be 7:1, at olympion it was 90% blokes, a sausage fest as one person called it. Great for us girls!
Kavos is good for those wanting a trashy booze-up holiday, we didn't get in before 6am on each night! The resort is full of young people, and laughs guaranteed!
Kavos Is A Town That Will Forever Be Etched Into M
Kavos is a town that will forever be etched into my memory. We went there for 2 weeks in 2001 and it was phenomenal. There are hundreds of bars and about 5 or 6 decent sized clubs. The drinks are fairly cheap, apart from in the clubs so you can happily get leathered every night if that's your bag. The locals where all quite friendly and we didn't see too much trouble while we were there. There were some great bar, the Black Duck did class cocktails and the Rolling Stone was a definite favourite for Indie music and a large Flintstone esc stone that you could run on whilst hanging from the ceiling. I actually stayed in Aspro Kavos which was about a 2 mile walk from Kavos, though it seemed to take about 3 hours at 4am when you were making your way home. Kavos smelt a bit in the day, but it's really not designed for that type of holiday. If you want Sun, Sea, Sand and a good night out you won't find better value than Kavos.
