Knysna, The Phantom Forest Eco-Reserve

Imagine Africa booked our trip. They were fantastic organising different places to stay with a diverse feel to them all.

we had 3 nights here in december 2014. the lodges were really quaint like living in a hansel and gretal house. be careful if you are over 6ft tho. They were spacious and very nicely done out. with lots of lovely toiletries and mosi spray (which you will need) outdoor bath was gorgeous overlooking valley.

Food was superb. 6 course meals.

Just a couple of things to bare in mind. you leave your car at the bottom of the hill, so if you want to go anywhere you need a lift down/up. The signposting around the area was not good we kept getting lost. it was quite a walk from our lodge to anywhere along wooden walkways, so you need to be reasonably fit and mobile.

We found the reception staff a bit unfriendly and there wasn't many staff around during the day to ask for help.

but if you are looking for something really different and you don't get claustraphobic its a really interesting experience
