Fairly Basic Facilities
Cloud farm is set in a beautiful area good for walking and dogs are allowed on the site, though they weren't always kept under proper supervision. We went on a very busy weekend and the showers and toilets were totally inadaquate for the number of visitors, big queues for the ladies toilets and the showers in the morning. The showers were nice and hot but i didn't like the unisex arrangements separate blocks would be ideal.

Cloud Farm Camping August Bank Holiday 2011
We stayed for 8 nights around the August Bank Holiday. The setting is fantastic next to the river with good walks/cycling up the Doone valley and on to Exmoor straight from the campsite. Friendly owners. The facilites whilst kept clean are basic and whilst the showers were hot & free not sure about the unisex arrangement with curtains to separate cubicles! For the price we would now expect better facilities than this. Unfortunately we had alot of rain and from other reviews it appears that this is something that Cloud Farm is prone to. The campsite nearly flooded as a result of rapidly rising river level during heavy rain and due to the fact that it appears the site is never 'full' they just keep cramming people in (it was a bank holiday so maybe it was abnormally busy)- there was no where to move to on higher ground. Very little of the site is level - only the areas immediately adjacent to the river but people pitched tents on quite alarming slopes - not sure how they managed not to slip out of them at night! Nice to be able to have camp fires however ground is becoming ruined by bare patches left as fires are not in permanent pits, also concerned over safety due to density of tents/number of fires, only fact that it was very damp reduced risk of fires spreading.
I Stayed A Cloud Farm Last Week. It Was Really Nic
I stayed a Cloud Farm last week. It was really nice to be in such a relaxed atmosphere. We had a fire every night and the children loved playing in the river.
They have recentely installed a new shower block with 6 power showers and the tewa rooms open late for anybody to get a bite to eat.
I would throughly recommend this to anyone one wants to camp on Exmoor.

I've Just Come Back From A Weekend At 'cloud Farm'
I've just come back from a weekend at 'Cloud Farm' Doone Valley holidays. We were meeting friends here, but by mistake visted the Doone Valley Camping site, just over a pretty little bridge.
Whilst we had a lovely time at Cloud Farm camping by the river; there seemed to be a permanent fog and drizzle just above the campsite, when just down the road the weather seemed clear. Hence I guess the name 'Cloud Farm'.
It was a nice campsite, but as it is featured on the internet in several places it was rather overcrowded. There were only 2 ladies showers, and it was quite a walk from the campsite to the toilets up a hill.
They charged 7.50 per person, but charge extra if you have a larger tent, or any sort of awning/gazebo. Next door at Doone Valley camping the charge was just £5.00 per person per night, and they had a brand new shower and toilet block, the camping was also next to the river but on a flatter area, and was alot less crowded. They also had a shop, tea room, and licensed bar, served pizzas till 8pm, and allowed campfires.
Unless you want to take advantage of on site horseriding at Cloud Farm I would recommend Doone valley camping, over Cloud Farm/Doone Valley holidays, and even then there seem to be lots of horse riding available in the area.

In good weather it was perfect.
We had a wonderful time at Cloud Farm Riverside Camping. Plenty of outdoorsy things to do. No materialistic interuptions. Open fires allowed. The children had hours of fun in the river & on the horse ride. Great walks. Fabulous home cooked food in the little shop.
Despite The Scenery I Couldn't Recommend This Site
Despite the scenery I couldn't recommend this site. It was expensive to stay here. There were extras for large tents, extras for awnings and extras for kitchen tents. The shop was well stocked and served fresh food and a large selection of homemade cakes. However, I felt the prices were overinflated and they took full advantage of the long drive to the nearest shop.
There was horseriding which is great if your kids are in to this but this means you need your wellies to avoid the muck. The facilities were rustic but the prices were not.

Ok. The Doone Valley is very pretty. However, we would not recommend this campsite to anyone. The bathroom and shower facilities were awful. We expected great facilities as it stated on their website that they had been recently refurbished. On the website it makes it seem like their is an indoor area to consume goods bought on site as their is a table in the shop on the website. However, in reality there appears tp be nothing of the kind when you get there. The drive in to the web site is an extremely bad road in terms of massive pot holes. The road is very narrow so expect to have to reverse if you have a vehicle coming toward you.
