Horrible Place Rude Staff
Had a problem at this site loud music drunken young people asked for help at the reception. The vile manager went out of her way to be rude, obnoxious and uncaring. Peebles is lovely but not this place. it is run down grotty, unclean and has no facilities. The food is horrid and there is nothing for children. The views are lovely but give this place a miss at all costs. It is cheap but there is a good reason for this. pay a bit more and go to a decent place

Crammed Into A Bog!
So here's how things went!
We arrived late in the hope of a pitch for 2 motor homes, looked very promising as there were lots of free spaces.
I called the number on reception window, The phone was answered by a not very helpful person advising me to read the notice which tells me to go to the hayloft out of hours, I thought I'd rather use the phone number than go there & find it was full!!
Young lad at the bar didn't know how to book me in, I asked if there was a hard standing pitch, about electric & water, however he showed a list of prices & quoted £20, then went off to phone someone for help.
He returned saying plenty space, just go off & find any pitch available. We drove around to find many a person before us had been stuck, slipped or slid around in the mud. Now I appreciate the Easter weather wasn't as hoped but if your advised of hard standing that's what you expect!
Mud, just mud oh,,,,, and more mud!
Eventually we set up, the toilets are open all the time, wet, broken plastic seats & cysterns, but they worked, I didn't dare venture a shower!
Off for a drink to the Hayloft, it was rather empty for an Easter weekend, a couple with 2 children, it was warm enough but lacked any atmosphere, pricey too so we headed back to the vans.
In the morning we woke to a scene of desperation as a blue pick up pulled caravan, motor home & car out the mud laden pitches.
Now as I said we can't change the weather & the pick up did help but surely some money spent laying stone, red ash or concrete would help, we do get LOTS of rain in Scotland.
I was also horrified at the closeness of many pitches to bins, toilet waste disposal and each other,, looked like cram them in & make some cash was the key theme!
Oh I didn't mention earlier when we went back to pay for said tide of mud it had increased to £25,, seemed the original price quoted half an hour earlier didn't include Bank Hol supplement.

Very Friendly Staff! Lovely Site
I stayed at rosetta with a couple friends earlier this year for the weekend. we loved it here. the site is very large with plenty walks for our dog. the staff were very friendly and helpful. the hayloft bar a little dark could do with upgrading but very reasonable prices for drinks and food. we were able to order our bacon rolls in the morning and take them back to out tent for only £1.50 per roll << we loved this. we will be back and would highly recommend the site.

25 August 2010 Took My Son This Afternoon For
25 august 2010
Took my son this afternoon for one night camping ,Rosetta is close to Edinburgh, we got there at 5pm and we had packed up and left by 8.30pm! Our pitch was on a steep hill with cars parked above us, if a hand brake had failed, we would have been toast. There are serious health and safety issues at this site. The fun park is not the same as the picture on the website, there were 3 swings and a big dirty sand pit where I persume there used to be a climbing frame.
Food poor
Dirty toilets
Noisy and not relaxing, so we left before it got to late, kept thinking a car would roll down the hill over our tent!
It was not worth £16
Don't waste your money!
Wish I'd checked reviews first.
I Had To Leave At 4.30 In The Morning As It Was So
I had to leave at 4.30 in the morning as it was so loud. Really rough campers drinking special brew all night in the pitch next to us. They ended up physically brawling with each other at around 4am. Not a suitable environment for a family so thought it was safer to leave.
When to front office a couple of time 2.00 am 3.00 am to complain but nobody there.
No refund was offered.
And the camping pitch was on a slight slope.
My Wife And I Have Just Returned From A Long Weeke
My wife and I have just returned from a long weekend at the site, as the Peebles Fair was on, it was almost full. We were in a tent on the main pitches at the top with great views across the valley. I agree with some of the previous comments but not all. The roads around the site need some attention and the toilets definitely need to be updated, communal washing is not unusual but is should be. There were no hooks to hang towels or clothes on either. Despite this, for the duration of our stay, they were cleaned on a regular basis. Heating was switched on each morning, paper towels and toilet rolls replaced. The showers were hot and easily controlled but a plastic seat would have been welcome.
The staff were helpful and friendly, we witnessed the manager dealing with an issue concerning the control of a campers dogs and it was done in an extremely tactful manner. The pitches are well defined, slightly on a slope (good if it rains, less chance of puddles forming) but a few are more steep. We saw no litter during our stay and refuse was cleared on a daily basis. I find it hard to blame those running the site for how campers behave, for instance, dumping bags of rubbish on the ground next to empty dustbin bags. On one occasion, just after the toilet were cleaned, two young children pulled paper towels out and left them stewn across the floor. On another, a muddy cyclist washed his shoes in the dishwashing sink and left it full of mud. I would get pretty fed up with clearing up after folk like that on a regular basis! The area in and around Peebles offers a great deal, would we go back to this site, yes definitely.
Booked At Last Minute When Decided To Visit Glentr
Booked at last minute when decided to visit Glentress mountain bike centre. The campsite was perfect for this centre, close by, with good facilities. The owners could not have been more friendly nor helpfull. The pitches were of good size and flat, and the campsite was quiet at night. Showers and washing machines were in good working order. Only five minutes walk from Peebles shops. Am returning again this year.
Site Owners Discription- ( Truth ) The Park I
site owners discription- ( truth )
The park is very spacious with plenty of room for children to play,( as long as they risk playing up and down steep hilly uneven surfaces) or adults to just sit and relax.( at an angle while trying to stop yourself falling downhill )Our aim is to give you a quiet and relaxing holiday, surroundings which we feel we have accomplished by previously winning the best park in Scotland award ???.Rosetta offers accomodation for touring caravans(take extra blocks/wood to try and level up your caravan ), motor homes and tents ( hardly large enough pitch area for tent and nothing else nor for vehicle nearby ) ( be ready to slip down inside tent/sleeping bags as you will be camped on slopes, some steeper than others) .You can book by the day, week, month or even season-NOT RECOMMENDED.We also have sites available for Static Holiday Homes and luxury Lodges (most on uneven ground)which will give you and your family the "Country Retreat" ?? you have always dreamt about. The many facilities we offer are:
Toilets, showers,washing facilities
(toilets at lowest part of site: old untidy, unclean badly maintained - too small ( 1 medium build person using first urinal-blocks the way to the other2) ....2 basins 2 toilets 2 showers all badly kept, provided for use of about 3... hilly feilds of campers.)
water points,(very few)
water taps and bucket/sloop location, very poor...fire points = 1 hose, not long enough too reach locations supposed to cover.
Rosetta is ideally situated with the High Street of Peebles within easy walking distance. Here you can enjoy a good ion of cafes, bars and restaurants, along with an array of traditional shops including bakers, butchers and a variety of local craft stores and gift shops ( better of stay at hotel or something similar in peeples itself )
