I Set Up A Barclays Savings Account For My First C

I set up a Barclays savings account for my first child simply because I had an account there and although the branch is no longer handy they opened on Saturday mornings so I was able to call in. The process of setting it up wasn't that complicated but the big problem I have with Barclays is that the branch is not directly contactable through the internet or by phone. Instead everything has to go through a call centre. I rang a week ago to try and get put through to the bank to arrange an appointment to set up an account for my second child and was told they would fax the branch to ring me back within 2 hours. It is now 6 days later and I have had no response. I plan to open an account elsewhere for my second child and will be going into Barclays to complain (again) at the poor service. Funnily enough the service I received as a Woolwich customer although not perfect was superior to Barclays.

I found this review helpful because customer service is very important to me and is often a good accurate pointer at how valuable you as a customer are in the bank's eyes. Will rethink Barclays...

When I Opened The Barclays Junior Barclayplus Chil

When I opened the Barclays Junior BarclayPlus Children's Saving Account for my second daughter I hadn't been informed that in order to not to pay taxes I had to fill a form and I realized it only after one year when my statement was due.

Barclays Junior Barclayplus Children's Saving Acco

Barclays Junior BarclayPlus Children's Saving Account - I opened this account as it had the best current rate of interest paid compared to most of the major banks. At 4.25% up to £1000 then 4.75% and the added extra of no tax! This was definitely the best account for both mine and my son's needs. I am pleased that there are added security measures for withdrawing money from the account since it is for my son's future, and with all the extra security needed for our accounts why shouldn't they have it for your savers as well.

I Have Had My Barclays Account For 1 Year And I Am

I have had my Barclays account for 1 year and I am disgusted I have had one statement in 1 year I try to withdraw 5 pounds I have to sign a paper to prove it is my account the telephone banking is 25 min wait low interest. I gained 2p with a balance of 45 pounds it was rubbish, the worst bank ever!

Yes i full agree. Further if you carefully read T&C provided at time of opening it is clearly written that a/c will continue to be under parent name even when the child reaches 18 Years of age; it can only be tranfer to childs name after getting approval from Parent/Guardian. That means if guardian or parent is no longer alive when child is 18, child cannot have access to the money saved for him/her over the last 18 years. I hate this kind of conditions n providers who establish terms that adversely effect people's earning and trust. Haroon- Essex

I don't understand what the problem is that you had to sign for the money?
