Beware They Are Under Paying Interest On Matured Fixed Bonds

No stars really. Had fixed term bonds with them for numerous years. For example if it says matures 31st August they have always paid interest up to & including that date and then its free. Well now they are paying 1 day interest short and only pay interest up to 30th August but it clearly states in their written T & Cs matures 31st August. S.Trust say they have changed the way they pay interest. We have not been told. Where are these new rules written?! They cannot just change goalposts like this on fixed term bonds!! Oh if rates were on the way up they would not do this as it would cost them more, instead they are giving you 1 day short of interest. We have to fight this they are in breach of their T & Cs. CHECK YOURS!

Just Dire To Deal With

What an administrative nightmare this bank is. Phone lines operated by amateurs and you end up going round in circles still not resolving the problem (assessing your account). Don't go near them.

Efficient And Secure

I'm surprised by negative reviews. I've had several accounts over 7 years with the bank, joint, savings, business, a bond; they've always been efficient, money transferred on due days and live up to their name of Secure. Memorable words can be a problem but the central bank idea is good. If you want expensive banking try Barclays, they leach money out of the accounts.

Bye Bye Managed Banking

Can't fault account offered by secure trust, I am disappointed they have taken the dicsion to pull out of the bank account market. And that they were not able to offer an alternative product, I do understand why, but this account keeps your money in a separate account and in order to use your card you have to load it first!! This has been a great budgeting tool for me!! The only high street bank that has copied this idea is santander, yes it's not perfect, I was disappointed when they withdrew secondary cards on the account and could not offer a joint account, but still a good product, however with most of the big banks now offering basic accounts to help people avoid charges and overdrafts free, I can understand why this account can't compete in the current market, at least they have given plenty of notice and a small cash incentive if you close your account sooner. Also if you really can't manage your finances, there is still the likes of cashplus and think banking although charges are a tad hire, just beware people check the small print!! I for one will miss banking with secure trust.

No Longer Applies

Have been very satisfied with this service since 2013

It's a shame they are soon to stop this service through the government introducing fee free banking for basic bank accounts.

I feel i can't give a rating because it's no longer relevant. they haven't offered a replacement either, just suggested other banks who will run basic accounts without fees.....

Could Do Better

This 'bank' only got my business because it offered the best rate on its 120 day notice accounts. But it's not worth the bit extra in exchange for the hassle. I recently gave notice to close two accounts and it became a nightmare. They require notice in writing by snailmail then claim that either the letter didn't arrive or arrived late. I appreciate that the Royal Mail may be less than perfect but really! It just seems like a ploy to extend the notice by about a week. When I complained they just waffled. What bank in this present day and age requires communication by snailmail for goodness sake? It's so 20th century! Also when trying to get access to one of the accounts they asked so called security questions one of which was to identify a bank account we opened in 1991. I jest not. In contrast I closed an account with another bank on the same day last week with 3 clicks. I've lodged another formal complaint but don't expect any proper resolution. Avoid.

Bank With Last-century Systems

This bank tries to operate as an internet bank, but doesn't have the systems in place to do so. I tried to start the process of closing a savings account by logging in using the acct no, sort code and memorable name that was set up when the account was opened. I 'failed the security check', because, as I was later informed, there is no facility for logging in to a savings account - not mentioned anywhere on the site or their literature. Why then were the security details assigned? This 'failure' then triggered a series of phone calls and letters whereby I had to reset three levels of security codes and my wife had to do the same, as it is a joint account. Each time the staff were very unhelpful and seemed to be reading from a script - "The computer says ....". It looks as if it will take at three letters, five phone calls and at least two weeks to start the process. Had I first read the reviews on this site, I would not have opened the account. I will certainly never use them again.

No Joint Accounts Allowed. Withdrawing Wifes Card. Expensive

Been with bank for over 5 years. Came to detest the card loading procedure as this was hard if you were out longer than planned and in addition to being charged 12.50 a month you then pay 50p everytime you withdraw funds. Final straw was after they'd issued a new card to my wife and I they sent a further letter stating they'll be withdrawing thesecond card on account. I asked them for a joint account then but they ddon't offer them. I explained the hardship this would cause as we both work and as a lorry driver I'm often hundreds of miles away. How in this day and age they can't give a married couple a joint account is beyond me. So, just got a joint barclays account and leaving secure trust. And its free! No monthly charge at all and no charge to take out your own money. I will never recommend this 1920s bank to anyone.

Rewards Not What They Seem.

Further to my previous review about receiving " rewards " as cash back for using the debit card at various retailers, I had my latest rewards last week, £3.34, after the weekly management fee of £2.90 had been deducted at the same time, was left with a "reward " of 44p ! Im glad to say that I have now been able to open an account with a high street bank and am transferring there.

Very Poor Customer Service

I have been affected by the co op card error today. I was unaware of this and phoned the bank about something else, before i could speak the very rude male operator demanded a transfer money to my card as it had a minus amount, when i question the payment taken today as i thought it had been taken twice, i was told repeatedly i didnt understand banking, i had spent the money, so i should pay, he mocked my shopping habits! He tranferred money to my card despite my telling him it was a mistake, when he obviously was informed by a staff member of the news about the co op he passed my call to them, didnt have the guts to talk to me himself.
