Take Weeks & Weeks To Settle Claims/appalling Communication

I should have read other reviews. Worst pet insurance company I have ever used. Taking already 7 weeks and not looked at my claim, apparently it’s still with their referrals team, despite giving me a deadline to provide information to them of 30 days! Communication is non existent, they just send auto-messages telling you nothing. I will not be renewing. Definitely avoid.

Terrible Claims Process

I have 3 dogs insured with Co-Op. Made a straight forward claim in December 2023 with all paperwork received beginning of Jan 2024. Rang today and told it will be at least another 3 weeks before it is seen by an assessor. I was advised this is due to a shortage of assessors and increase in claims. I was also told this the last claim I made in July 2023 - (which was declined by the way!). The customer service are pleasant and I feel sorry for them having to deal with irate customers.

When making a claim they tell you 28 days. It is appalling service and I won’t be renewing with them - hopefully they pay before that ! Do not use.

I’ve Been With The Cooperative For 12 Years. Unfo

I’ve been with the cooperative for 12 years. Unfortunately my cat, Dave fell ill and had to be euthanised. Having then put in a claim to the co-op. I was declined. This claim was not only for the euthanasia but for the treatment David received up to that point

I was informed that because there was over seven years old they would not pay ouIt seems strange to me that often after thousands of pounds over the 12 years with a life that there was a cut-off at seven years, which, after I have paid ever increasing fees.

I found this disgusting. I have never claimed before and I would not recommend this company to anybody

As a footnote, it took them five weeks to come to this conclusion, and that was after I’d phoned them

Over the 12 years, I paid more than £3000

Unfortunately, I have another pet insured with them, but not for much longer

Yes, I am aware of that as pets get older they’re more likely to become ill but then again the previous increase I’ve known it was nearly paid £30 a month

I found this a very unscrupulous practice.

I think this may be to do with rhe fact they charge you co-insurance after the pet reaches 7. You then have a specific policy which details you pay up to 20% on top of excess. My argument is, if this is the case, why do they continue to take your premium? Noone would pay premium if there was no payout. If they state its in the small print, I would argue that its sharp practice. They should inform customers that no further premiums will be taken once pet reaches 7, unless you move to a 'senior' policy.

I would most certainly contact the Financial Services Ombudsman if you have been refused a payout becos your pet was over 7, if you have been up to date with payments.

Slow

A really simple claim, £340 for an emergency vet visit. I emailed everything over the next day, the vets kept their end of the bargain up following suit by day 7.

It's been an entire month now, no word from co-op, no pay out, no way of tracking the claim. I left another provider to come here and I'll be returning to them.

Don't Bother

Still waiting weeks later for a simple straightforward claim . Coop insurance love to keep kicking the can down the road. Do yourself a favour avoid coop pet insurance and use a more legit firm instead.

Do Not Use For Your Pets!

Absolute rubbish pet insurance service. I paid £40+ a month to get only £125 when my dog was pts at emergency vets at over £900 bill. absolute disgrace just because she was over 7!!!! Do not recommend.

Not Worth The Paper It’s Written On

After paying £100 per month each for my 2 dogs

I sadly had to have one euthanised as it collapsed

Was supposed to be covered but they won’t pay out as dog was over 7 years

Go Elsewhere

Have had bad experiences with Co-Op pet insurance from day one. They take months and months to pay out, if they pay out at all, having argued back and forth over the fine print. In the meantime, you need to foot the bill. They frequently had incorrect information, contacted the wrong people, told us misinformation, and generally were difficult to deal with. Do not recommend.

Go Elsewhere Even If It Costs More

My pet was seen by the vet at the begining of September and I am still waiting for any payment from the co-op pet insurers.

You get a confirmation email of receipt of the claim which states it may take up to 4 weeks to process. Tomorrow is 4 weeks and after my call today I find it has still not been assessed and it is only day 18 of a 20 working day timescale??? She could not even tell me when I might be paid, bearing in mind the claim hasn't even been assessed yet let alone ready for payment.

My claim is relatively small in comparison to some that I can imagine and to be honest with todays economic climate I could do with it being paid.

Unless you can afford to wait unconditionaly for payment I wouldn't use this insurer.

The whole point of covering your pet for vet fees is so you don't need to worry about the bill is it not?

My dog had been poorly and when taken to vets during the pandemic, she had blood tests and scans to investigate why she had been losing weight.Tests came back normal but i knew something was wrong with her,i changed her vet and she had more blood tests and a scan and were told she had tumors on her liver and she was in a bad way so had to let her go.Put in claim on previous vets bill and three weeks later told there were exclusions on weight loss, still waiting on outcome of recent claim. Will not go with this company again,MY DOG HAD CANCER but weightloss does not come into it.AVOID!!!.
