As Per The Previous Review, I've Had An Ikea Store

As per the previous review, I've had an Ikea store card for about 3 years and they've more than doubled the interest rate - they have also developed a nasty habit of changing the payment date by 3-4 days on occasion with the result that it's easy to miss a payment and incur charges... in any other business this would be called "sharp practice". No wonder Mr Kamprad is the world's richest man.

Tgis Company Have Just Announced A Hiking Up Of Ra

Tgis company have just announced a hiking up of rates to 27.5%. When asked why they said it was to reflect current market conditions. This is at a time when most folk are worse off and normal credit card rates are around 15%. This is an example of a store card operatoir taking advabntage at a reallt bad time for people. Another case of rip off Britain. These store cards should be outlawed. Sahme on you IKANO and Ikea.

I Have Had An Ikea Card For About 8 Years Now. The

I have had an Ikea card for about 8 years now. They seem to operate the exact opposite to every other store card provider and bank out there. Firstly, I got into financial difficulty after a divorce a few years back and they froze my interest payments for 6 months and reduced my limit to zero until I got back into the black. I had no extra charges because I kept them informed-they really listened! As long as I kept to my payments, I had no trouble at all. The only time I was ever charged was for 12.00 for a DD that didn't go through (my fault). My Bank charged me £30.00 for the same transaction! I think Ikea Card charges are much fairer than other lenders. Once my finances improved, I cut up my other credit card and didn't apply for credit with anyone else because I could see the difference in the service I received when I really needed help the most.

Since then, my card has been re-instated with a good credit limit-no problems, this is never increased without my knowledge, I have to apply for any increase -for example, if I wanted to make a big purchase, like a Kitchen (which I never have), they seem to be really sensible lenders. I noticed that the APR was around 12% (recently gone up to around 16% re the current climate). Some store cards charge around 30% APR. The call centre is uk based, with no crazy press this and that options and they do not try to sell you things you dont want. I wish the service I got instore was as good as the store card-other than that it is excellent. If this is the only credit card you choose, then you cant go far wrong- and no! I don't work for Ikea!

Beware the fact that statements are nearly always 'delayed' in the post somehow, to the extent that you are given almost zero time to pay on time, so you end up giving them an extra £12 'late fee' + interest a month.

I wouldn't have entertained looking into setting up an IKEA store card, but the low rates do appear very competitive against other store cards, worth further examination!
