Foyles

I ordered a book on microlight pilot instructions from Foyles in June and paid the £4.50 extra 1st class post for next day delivery. I never received any further communication from them until I received the book in late August, by which time I had sourced the book elsewhere. When I eventually got in touch with their customer services,(after numerous emails and phone calls) I was blatantly lied to by a representative, who informed me that the reason there was a delay was that a new edition had been printed and that they were waiting for that to come out. She stated that a mail had been sent to me advising me of this. I asked her to resend this to me. She never did. During this conversation she instructed me to return the book with a copy of the invoice so that i could be refunded.

I did as I was instructed and I have not received any further communication from them in almost 6 weeks. This whole experience has left me out of pocket nearly £25 and I have absolutely nothing to show for it. I have continued to try to contact Foyles by mail and phone, but they never respond. Do yourself a favour and avoid using this company at all costs. They are utterly pathetic

Online very disappointing; unanswered emails, orders summarily cancelled without explanation, books unavailable. Avoid until they take this aspect seriously - there is far better service elsewhere.

Saw a book on Foyles was only 10% dearer than Amazon so decided to try them out. The idea being to help keep a retail store alive...

Ordered a book on Wednesday evening via the Free Home Delivery - it arrived Friday lunchtime!

Nothing to dislike!

For me Foyles is the original and best giant bookshop in the UK. I remember trips to London when I was a kid where my mum would disappear to Oxford St and dad and I would nip around the corner to Foyles and spend hours browsing the shelves. I honestly think these trips to Foyles were instrumental in widening my outlook on the world.

I'm pleased to to say that I was back there recently and things haven't changed much. OK, it seems a little bit smaller to the adult me, but the shop itself is still a buzzing hub of knowledge, learning and fun. I now take my kids there in much the same way I was taken there. OK, it probably has less impact on them (now the giant bookshop in the sky is out there) but I hope it still retains some of that magic I grew up with for them.

Good stock of hard-to-find item. No quibble refund when returned, even though slightly past returns deadline, which was very kind.
