I bought the Premiair PTF06RI Remote Control Tower Fan with Ioniser from Maplin when the weather started to shows signs of getting hot for the summer. I wanted a quiet fan that could be run at night but also had an ionising function to help me with my hayfever and asthma.The design and look of this tower fan is great. It looksmore expensive than it is plus has a handy remote (great for turning off during the night if it gets too cool). On the lowest setting it's perfect for sleeping as it hardly makes a sound and on the top speed (there are 8 speeds in total) it is noisier but no more than say an Xbox 360. It has a breeze function which varies the speed randomly giving the impression of a natural breeze. I'm finding it great for when the pollen count is high and I can't have the window open. I just stick the fan on with ioniser and keep my room nice and cool. I feel it improves my breathing too.
