Once It Fails, You Have To Trash It
This model (at least) uses special screws that make it impossible to open once it has a malfunction, even if it is something simple you have to ship it to the manufacturer in the UK. Many complaint that it simply has no spares. RH offers a 60% discount on your next one, but, as mine has only lasted 3 years, I don't think this is such a good deal

Good
I have had my RH toaster for almost 2years. Very stylish and it performs well, but the biggest plus about this toaster is that it can take thick cafe' style bread. If you don't have thick bread often then I would recommend getting something cheaper. I bought the toaster by itself but my kettle died last night after a good run (sunbeam) and I think I will replace it with the matching RH kettle. To sum up the toaster looks great, takes really think bread and easy to clean with a quick wipe down. Only downside is that it is on the expensive side.
Ps no, I don't work for RH I was looking up reviews for the RH kettle and I came across this page so I though I would add some balance to the negative comments.

This Is The Second Russell & Hobb Toaster We Own I
This is the second Russell & Hobb toaster we own in quick succession. I though it was a good durable make. Call me old fashion, but my idea of a good kitchen appliance is that it should last AT LEAST 5 years. The toast insertion mechanism in both cases broke just outside the guarantee. Russel & Hobb? Never again

A Triumph Of Style Over Function. Looks Great And
A triumph of style over function. Looks great and toasts OK, when it works! However, it is not well made. We've had two that failed. They can't be dismantled or repaired. Shame.

I Bought A Russell Hobbs 10617 Glass Toaster Becau
I bought a Russell Hobbs 10617 Glass Toaster because I was attracted by it's design. At first it worked perfectly well, then after about a year (when the warranty had expired)
the LEDs began flashing, indicating a fault. Switching on and off at the mains would sometimes help. Then the pop-up lifting bar under the bread came loose at one end. I managed to semi-fix this, but today the toast didn't pop up.
IT JUST KEPT TOASTING AND TOASTING AND COULD HAVE SET THE HOUSE ON FIRE HAD I NOT BEEN WATCHING.
Don't buy one, because it cannot be dismantled or repaired when it goes wrong, which it will, as evidenced by the other comments on this site. Recycling Centre tomorrow. Then I'm going to buy a toaster that can be repaired if necessary.
