After A Very Pleasing Conversation With The Orange
After a very pleasing conversation with the orange sales team a month ago, they reassured me that living on a 10th floor flat would mean i would get the best internet reception on my dongle. Please DO NOT get this dongle or enter a contract with Orange. It is extremely slow, and yes, I live on the tenth floor and despite this, its performance is absolutely dismal. It is very very slow, there is no way for you to tell if you go over limit and its not fair on the price plus it keeps cutting off. Imagine trying to submit important work over the internet, only to find, the internet gets cut off all the time. Its not a problem with my dongle, as many of my friends have also reported it ! Do not get this dongle with Orange !

a very neat and portable device and availble on a £5 per month contract. thats about all the pro's the installastion drivers are very unsatafactory, and very orange's website does not give you the correct drivers. with a little bit of probing i have found that a company called "globetrotter" actually make the device and they just stuck a orange badge on it and messed up the softwear. managed to install globetrotters softwear http://www.option.com/en/support/software-download/usb-modems/
from here and it works like a charm, no need to change any settings.

Orange ICON 225 is a very convenient product and support our local network ..the only downside is that the heat of the device could sometimes too hot...but overall the performance is great!!!...fast and simple i would say.

The Orange ICON 225 has been random, frequent and very confusing crashing on xp. orange support dont know how to resolve issues so im left with something that will only work when i've re-formatted my pc.

The Orange Icon 225 Is A Very Strange Combination
The Orange ICON 225 is a very strange combination of very good product against very poor customer service and supply of information. If your looking to access the internet without using BT landline then look no further. Small and very versatile but you will need a LOT of patience. Settings can be changed using windows device manager but its trial and error, When using orange software online causes system crashes and failed downloads. Orange technicians (were not experts we just want a simple plug and go system that WORKS get it WORKS and gives maximum download speeds (why restrict it?) its using state of the art technology stop capping us and give us what we want. Fast efficient downloading, free uncomplicated upgrades, and customer service and knowledge to get the most out of this very good product. ITS ALMOST AS IF YOUR HOLDING BACK ...............................Cheers neil
Total nightmare. Orange no help to me, and that's if you can get thru to someone that knows what the Icon 225 is! Stuck on 18 month contract about year to go. Blue screen every few days to do with the driver, tried update. 3G keeps dropping, even on laptop outside and I'm in an excellent 3G data area, also tried in other places. Need to keep on edge/gprs settings. Constant reboots because the device suddenly can't be found by software.
