Mountfield Lawn Scarifier SE350

In terms of the collection bag I entirely agree that it is useless how this got through quality control beggars belief, it creates such a lot of unnecessary work, unless you are someone who likes jobs to take 3 times longer than they should, then don't buy.

The second time I used the Mountfield Lawn Scarifier the left back wheel fell off. It is utterly useless. It does not compare with Mountfield Lawnmowers which seem sturdy.

I have used Mountfield Mowers for about thirty years and been full satisfied with the performance. I bought the SE 350 Scarifier expecting the same levels of satisfaction but was to be very disappointed on two accounts.

1. The collection of the rubbish taken out of the lawn was almost non-existent.

2. After using the scarifier about half a dozen times the motor stared smoking and died.

Replacement will definitely not be a Mountfield

I WAS DISTURBED TO HEAR THESE REVIEWS AS I HAVE USED MINE TWICE AND THOUGHT IT WAS VERY GOOD, BUT A BIT BIG FOR MY LAWN THATS ALL, I HAVE HAD A MOUNTFIELD MOWER PETROL FOR 11YEARS AND IS WONDERFUL . I HAVE NOT HAD

ANY TROUBLE GOOD MACHINE AS I EXPECTED.IT VLEARED THE MOSS AND RUBBISH FROM MY LAWN A BIT TO WELL REALLY BUT LOOKS NICE NOW , THE COLLECTOR BOX FILLED MY BROWN BIN ,JUST FROM MY FRONT LAWN, I FOUND EASY TO USE , MYHUSBAND PUT IT TOGETHER IN A FEW MINUTES NO PROBLEM.

This product is not worthy of the Mountfield name(I have a Mountfield rotary mower which works perfectly- I bought it new in 1985).

This scarifier does scarify and it is cheap but collecting box fiddly to fit in place and collects less than 20% of the debris so don't bother with it.

After 3rd use a wheel fell off- ( a common problem it seems) rendering it rather useless.Off to the tip tomorow

BOUGHT THIS CHEAP FROM B&Q DOES NOT PICK UP THE THATCH SO HAVE TO RAKE UP AFTERWARDS, I GUESS THE ADDAGE BUY CHEAP BUY TWICE COMES TO MIND. GOING TO GET RID OF IT AS IT TAKES UP SO MUCH ROOM IN MY SHED AND DOES'NT DO A GOOD JOB.

Bought this scarifier without reading these reviews - big mistake. The left wheel fell off the first time I used it! I see this seems to be a problem with them. For the short time it was working I was not impressed with it.

useless bought this from b and q and i thought it was a bargain. It doesnt collect up much moss into the bag very little and the motor started smoking and stalled after 3 minutes use dont buy this product spend some more and get the real deal

I was really excited when I purchased this scarifier from B&Q and couldn't wait to get home and try it out.

Easily assembled and out into the garden I went.

That's when it all went wrong. Yes it does scarify well, the problem lies in the collection of what it has removed----it doesn't.

This means that either you have to rake the lawn manually or go over it with a lawnmower to collect the debris.

Sort of defeats the object of having one.

Save your money and buy a Bosh.

You get what you pay for - saw the Mountfield SE350 Scarifier in B and Q for just under £80, reduced from £120 or £130. I thought it was a bargain - it wasn't. I set mine to the highest setting, being hopefully the easiest setting for a first time.

It jammed grass into the grass collector opening, not filling the bag at all, then the machine stalled. I don't know why they bother giving you a grass collector - it does not collect. After mine had stalled about a dozen times, I removed the grass collector completely and it scarified reasonably OK but then I had to collect all the stuff it had pulled up, mostly by using my lawnmower which took more than twice as long as it takes to mow the lawn, if not three times or more.

Has Mountfield ever tried using or testing this product before the started selling it? I doubt it. I wish I'd never bought it and paid the extra to get a machine that does what it is supposed to do. Mountfield have a really good reputation and I thought I was buying a solid dependable product, I wasn't.
