Not Fit For Purpose
I ordered two grafted cucumbers and four grafted tomatoes some time ago. They arrived end of may in a poor state not due to mishandling in the post. Only one of the cucumbers survived only one of the tomatoes was up to standard the others having little vegetation above the graft. They were a disgrace and should not have been sent out in that condition. They were supposed to be potted plants but obviously had been stuck in the pots on the day of despatch or a day or so before as there was no roots outside the inner jiffy. Despite contacting customer services by e mail on two occasions I have had no reply . They are obviously embarrassed with their products and have no answers. When you rely on such deliveries which are quite late in the growing season it is too late to make up the shortfall. I have had problems in the past with this firm but gave them the benefit of the doubt that things had improved but they have not if anything things are worse.

We have purchased numerous plug plants and potted vegetables this year.
The quality seems variable and the packaging is very poor.There are too many damaged plants;my most recent order 15 sweet corn plugs were all damaged and the stems were all separated from the leaves.
Customer services reply promptly but the reply are always standard and do not seem to have read the original email.
So no more business with dories.
Shocking Customer Service After Problem With Web Order
I used Dobies to purchase a present for my mum - used them for the first and last time.... I ordered some bulbs well in advance because deliveries etc take longer than normal and I get paranoid that presents won't arrive in time. Unfortunately for me (and my mum) Dobies hide behind the fact that they consider bulbs a perishable product, meaning you have only 14 days to return the item..... That means by the time I had given my mum her present and she opened it that the 14 days had passed. When she opened what was supposed to be 8 bulbs she found 2 in one packet and 1 in another - that's a shocking 5 missing and customer service simply don't care. The response was that there's nothing they could do (I beg to differ, they could do something if they wanted but chose not to). They have my money, that's all that matters to them. I told them I purchased it as a present - I wouldn't open someones present prior to giving it to them (the bag for the bulbs was white plastic rather than clear so I couldn't see in in order to check). I have no choice but to try my credit card company. I would say to be on the safe side, if you're planning on purchasing a present for someone then buy it from any company other than Dobies, you'll thank me if there's a problem.
Waste Of Time
Absolutely waste of time! Take your money but do not deliver goods on time. Tiny plug plants ordered in March for delivery 20th April 2020. Still not received all of the order! Some have arrived dried up shrivelled not even a label to say what they are!
Still waiting, e mailed twice, same response " please read FAQs" Plants will be sent out at optimum growth! They are the most tiniest plug plant ever seen!! No excuse weather has been fantastic this Spring!!
If they can't fulfill orders due to Pandemic then they shouldn't carry on on line taking people's money!
Do not touch this company with a barge pole!!!!!

Place Is A Joke
I ordered several packets of seeds from Dobies.
Took an age to come and several of the packets missing (Items to follow). Two weeks (5 weeks from original order) later nothing?.
Also planted in greenhouse first packets and nothing grew. Our own seeds and other companies mostly all germinated.

Some plants arrived months after the order, not packaged properly, dried out, one of the 3 actually dead
They were all crawling with black fly
The order process was terrible - there was no accurate estimate of what stage the order was at
Ordered 09/03/2020 three items delivered after 6 weeks
Some items have still not arrived 7 weeks later

Very disappointed that seeds were not dispatched in the 3-5 days stated in the order confirmation. Neither did they contact us to let us know that they would not meet that timescale. Received email today (after 12 days) implying that the order might be dispatched 15 days after order. Can I suggest that you don't mislead customers about the service you can offer.

Exactly the same company as Suttons who are also not shipping out peoples orders but taking immediate payment from them!
Read reviews for Dobies & Suttons to see all recent bad reviews regarding both companies, although they have exact same address, regarding despatch times etc.
Still personally waiting on my order from Suttons to even be despatched, bought weeks ago, but time I receive them (of I ever do!) it'll be too late for sowing. Made me waste time, money and effort on my garden and buying seeds I can't even get refunded because they have a policy where you need to recieve them, then post them back, in order for them to process your refund.

Shocking Customer Service
Ordered a vitapod propagator,only to be sent the wrong pieces and a shortage of nuts and bolts to assemble the wrong pieces.Customer service rep had not got a clue what I was telling them and I started questioning my sanity.Eventually they admitted there incompetence and said they would send correct pieces,still not received them so still cannot build the product I ordered. Will never buy from this shoddy outfit again.

Did Not Receive Full Order
Placed an order for 4 trees and received only 2. After sometime was informed that they were unable to send the last 2 and wanted to refund . I explained that I was willing to wait until the Autumn only to be informed that as the price of the trees would be higher then they were unwilling to do this. surely , having acknowleged my order and taking my money Dobies would be gracefull enough to proceed with the order .
Very disappointed.
