The Killing

Unlike many people i didnt watch the Danish version of this when it was on TV, but i did hear how much everyone raved about it. So when i heard that an American version had been made i thought i would give it a go. Now i know the purists out there will probably tell me that this version isnt as good. Personally i dont have the patience for subtitles - uncultured i know. The Killing is a dark drama about the disappearance and murder of a young girl in Seattle. The setting is really good as it rains pretty much constantly and the weather is often used to emphasise the action occuring. From what i understand the American version remains pretty true to the Danish original (right down to the knitwear) but is 13 episodes instead of 26. What i also like about it is that they havent used any shiny LA actors, the program is dark, the weather is dreary and the actors are very good representations of ordinary (read not size 0, model looking, bleached teeth etc) people.

Personally, i'm hooked. The story is brilliant. Having not seen the original version i can't comment on that, but the American series is pretty great.
