best show in tv history. My fave bit is season 4 3rd last episode where he is under floor boards trying to gather money to escape and skler tells him she gave money away, my fave line is 'you gave our money to Beneke' hahahahaha

Spoiler alert he really does die. he sells things and then he dies at the end.

Excellent show. Just wanted to re-iterate the previous more in depth reviews. A successful Chemistry teacher and his ex drop out student team up together to bring what must be one of the best TV series ever made.

The hit TV show Breaking Bad is and always will be one of my favorite shows.

With spot on acting, plot twists that will keep you glued to your seat, and a plan that is brilliant in its moral controversy--the show deserves your attention. An overqualified teacher become cancer ridden drug lord mentoring a flunky student become perfect chemistry assistant the show takes turns that you never see coming. Do yourself a favor and watch this series.

This series follows a chemistry teacher Walter / Hiesenberg with terminal lung cancer. He is father of a disabled kid, with another child on the way. He turns to a life of crime teaming up with a failed ex-student Jesse using his chemistry knowledge to make Crystal Meth. The moral line is crossed as Walter has terminal cancer. He has nothing to loose. He only wants to provide a nest egg for his family as he's soon to snuff it!

It mixes themes from The Shield, that everyone is gray on their moral path, humour from Dexter but it's a lot darker and in places a lot more twisted. Walter has an alter ego, a pork-pie wearing hat and all in black cold hearted killer who will stop at nothing to protect what is his. His softer side, Walter is family focused. Meanwhile Jesse his accomplice is for the early series the joke. Think white boy rapper Eminem drug dealer with the brain of a peanut and you get the idea. As the series progresses Jesse starts to grow smarter and more ambitious.

After the loss of Lost, this series has some of the cleverest direction and script-writing on TV. It's won 4 primetime emmys with 9 wins & 28 nominations.

Series 1: Starts with asking a question, when your life has gone to hell, in a country that doesn't support the poor, when you're making your life honest you then discover a get rich scheme, but its criminal. You have nothing to loose as you're going to die of cancer shortly... so why not? The viewer feels uncomfortable and many scenes until you get used to it are almost cringe worthy. In essence it justifies crime as a last resort as the system itself is failed. Most humorously it's Walter's Brother in Law, a DEA agent, that introduces the idea of making meth.

The show mixes themes from Burn Notice, almost instructing the viewer how chemistry used in bizarre situations can save your life. Safe to say, when you start selling drugs you run into bad guys. Now we start to see chemistry in action. It's very amusing!

The series then focuses on how the 2 living very different lives and ethical directions at times agree and other times not. They come together when fighting for their lives in many, many instances.

During series 1: We witness the pain of Walter, his failing relationship with his wife and his gradual rise to selling Meth on the street. Walter and Jesse get themselves into a lot of trouble with local drug dealers and Walter then discovers his alter ego Heisenberg!

This show is not one to miss. It's run for 3 series, series 1 being the shortest. It's coming up to a 4th season sometime in 2011. I seriously recommend you watch this series.

At times, the story telling is slow. However, the story arcs and season finales are intelligent as they are well directed. In series 3, the direction takes a very different approach. We are introduced to almost dream like surreal situations that have some direct or metaphorical allegory to that episode. Don't miss.
