Wisdom From The Green Shag Carpet By The Redding B

Wisdom from the Green Shag Carpet by The Redding Brothers has twelve full tracks plus 1 "outtakes" track (#13) featuring some quite hilarious content, evidently from the recording studio the album was recorded in. Lyrically speaking, the album is a knockout. The Redding Brothers are brilliant lyricists and do not limit their talents to drab love songs, but rather, seem to express more universal philosophical ideologies. Philosophies such as living life to the fullest, Carpe Diem, aspects of death, etc... Very interesting stuff. The beat is driving and energetic, and very different from the usual sound of the day. My favorite tracks were 'Rosebud', which I assume is talking about Orson Wells' famous film "Citizen Kane" (a brilliant idea for a song!), and 'Misled', which describes a strange psychedelic trip through the mind of a man in love. Overall, I would recommend this album, and the Redding Brothers in general, over most of the popular artists of today. Two thumbs up!
