Repetetive
A very good magzine for the first year - after that it largely re-covers old ground and, from the start, there's a lot of stating the obvious. Another gripe is that they'll give you advice one to two monrhs before you need it. For instance, I teceived the "September" issue on 4th August, telling me what to do in September, but up North, we're at least two weeks behind the South and it's clear from what's said, that the timing isn't appropriate to us. A final gripe is the reliance on celebrity gardeners - but not the ones who seem to speak to ordinary gardeners or who have anything new to say. The the free seeds are too often not what you want. - Moneymaker tomatoes? There are hundreds of better varieties, for instance. They give you the seed merchants excess: not what is recommendable.
After three years, They are losing my subscription.
Don't you want to know what to do well in advance? It's better than being told in September what you should have done in August. As for repetitiveness, gardeners usually do the same things in the same months, year after year, don't they? I would have preferred to hear you views after the first year, not after 3 years when you're reading the same things again.
