A Picture Paints A Thousand Words....
We'd seen it on the internet and quite frankly I wasn't that impressed by what I saw. Hold on a minute, new paint job, easy to read menu, well explained, diverse and damn tasty! Friendly and informative service, although not that busy when we went, (early lunch) the staff were very attentive and welcoming.
The dishes themselves were of generous portions and what flavours! I had the risotto, to rival that of any London restaurant. The table across from us had the duck and traditional fish and chips. What portions, we all agreed, value for money indeed, I shall definitely be back!
I wish the team there the very best of luck. (ps. note to the management; go with the pale grey for inside!)

The Angel @ Heytesbury, Splendid!
We had a meal there on a Tuesday evening in March, the place looked good from the outside, inviting, stepping into the bar area it looked very cosy with sofa's and armchairs, the bar was open with a view to the restaurant beyond, the staff were very helpful with regard to the menu and specific ingredients, when it came the food was fantastic, we both had venison and chorizo burgers which were perfect, the hand cut freshly fried chips were beautiful, crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle, the burgers were so tasty with no one flavour swamping another, sadly we couldn't manage a dessert as we were so full, I was sorry about that! We liked the decor and the furniture, if we are ever up there again (we live in Bournemouth) we will most certainly eat there again!

Poor Value For Money
Recommended in local magazine. Our first Sunday lunch here figured quite low in value compared to many other establishments within 20miles. Both the beef and pork roast were of poor quality, the beef being of bland taste and quite a lot of sinew. My wife was glad of a sharp knife to cut her pork. The plates were swimming with the same dark gravy. The Yorkshire pudding almost covered the plate and became very soggy from soaking up the gravy. It was only through taste that the cauliflower cheese was recognised with another vegetable looking like swede but unable to be determined. Frankly the whole plate looked overbearing before adding any vegetables. I rarely leave food on a plate but this time I did. However, the Ringwood real ale was fine but it was the first pull of the pump. The sticky toffee pudding was OK.
There is little chance we will eat at The Angel at Heytsbury again.

Get New Staff !!! Improve Service
Had a meal here to celebrate out wedding anniversary, service was slow, pub & people dining were very nice, considering the location and style this pub/restaurant was very bad, we had a meal 2 nights before in a Little Chef where we were staying in Warminister and the service there was top class, considering it's 'reviews' so we were expecting something similar....well we had to wait ages to be served & then I noticed I had the same as the lady next to me but minus a dish, when I asked about my missing dish I was told it was for the lady's partners meal, which he was surprised about as it arrived on the same plate as the ladies, and he was not informed, eventually we got the desert menu which was rather limited to say the least, especially for Gluten free customers, they looked disappointed that we declined, we then had to wait ages for the bill after asking 2 times.....maybe they were waiting for us to have more drinks, not sure, buit woul not go there again, and would not recommend it to the many friends I have that travel in that area......they shoud sort it out as it could be rather nice

Wonderful Food, Shame About The Service! Lovely S
Wonderful food, shame about the service! Lovely starter of baked camembert but it did take an age to arrive. Then a long gap until the Sunday Roast came, although at this point worth the wait. Some time after our plates were cleared when we were waiting for the desert menu to be offered, a (senior?) member of staff asked rather abruptly if we were going soon because the table was booked after us! I said we were waiting for the desert choices and at this point she bluntly stated "in our defence, it has been some time and we thought you did not want any!". If they don't ask how are they going to find out?!
This attitude and poor service is a great shame because if the front of house was more welcoming we would certainly recommend it again. As it is we would not plan to return.

The Angel, Heytesbury Near Warminster, Wiltshire -
THE ANGEL, HEYTESBURY NEAR WARMINSTER, WILTSHIRE - our payers had not been answered. This was a VERY depressing evening - having started on a positive note with the explanation when we booked about being "fitted-in" as busy - we thought we would put up with being in the passage way through to the garden (we were in the restaurant - not the pub area but people had to walk past with their drinks, animals etc to reach the garden)- we also thought we would put up with the partly laid table as maybe they had kindly erected this table in a hurry to accommodate us - NO - they just could not be bothered and we realised so when a group of gentlemen had arrived and were told to pick a table to sit wherever they wanted.
Starters arrived - we had to request a fork for my son to be able eat his. We requested some additional soft drinks and a cider. The wine glasses were removed with no offer or enquiry as to whether we wanted to view the wine list (the only bonus of this was the glasses were dirty). Main course arrived before starter properly cleared - the waitress even took the knife my daughter had used for her starter of her plate when clearing and placed down for her to use again for her main!! We had to request cutlery to be able to eat our main courses for all of us at the table! It just continued to be a very bad, unfriendly and very unprofessional service.
We had to request the wine list - no one offered and honestly it was just part of the totally disinterested attitude to our needs we felt - to be fair the wine list was good and wine we chose very acceptable. I never did receive my jug of water either - by this point I think I had realised my expectations were beyond their capabilities/interest?!
The final straw was the receipt being thrown down upon payment. But what has even BEEN more upsetting is when we tried to explain to the Manageress we were not happy with our evening/location - we were met with "most people are happy with that table" and when trying to highlight the lets be honest basic errors of service from the mature ladies on duty we were again met with total disinterest. Pulling faces behind my back when leaving - again just highlights the lack of professionalism.
PLEASE THINK TWICE THIS IS NOT A CHEAP PLACE and most certainly not to the standard that we had become accustomed too.
pulling faces behind your back - oh dear - must try the angel again sounds like my kind sort of place

The Angel Coaching Inn In Heytesbury Is An Old Coa
The Angel Coaching Inn in Heytesbury is an old coaching inn that has recently been completely transformed into an eating house with bar.
I enjoyed my Sunday lunch there, as did my grandchildren who took me.
