Auberge Restaurant, Rishton, nr Blackburn

We had a table for 10 6 adults and 4 children the service was first class and the food was excellent. Christmas Day 2010 it was a very special occasion . I had melon to start 2 types with strawberry and lemon sorbet with a whisk of red syrup then fillet steak medallion with roast potatoes Brussels carrots and broccoli and the steak came in it's own gravy served with new potatoes in butter then strawberry pavalova to finish.. Everything was cooked to perfection and the roast potatoes were to die for crispy and very tasty. everything was piping hot and the service was excellent. everything went well no hiccups just brilliant quality food. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone with a good palate.

I visited auberge for the first time a couple of weeks ago & was disappointed with the quality of food, the attitude of some of the staff & lack of toilets. We all had a 'early bird menu' on a friday evening. I was impressed with the choices as I dont eat meat but when my starter of 'thai fish cake with chilli sauce' arrived I was very disappointed. It was served on a triangle shaped plate which seemed pointless, the fish cake was greasy, chilli sauce dirzzled over it, there wasnt any salad & it looked abit squashed! I ordered a salmon fillet for my main, which came with a spicy sauce & cous cous. This was ok, the sauce was a odd colour but at least the accompaning vegetables werent over cooked. My daughters garlic bread was straight from the freezer & the melon tasteless from being in the fridge. She enjoyed her spaghetti mainly I think with the promise of ice cream. The waiter/barman was unfriendly & whenever we ordered a drink his face said it all as if we shouldnt have been placing another order. We were a large group. The best thing about the place was the delightful waitress who was brilliant, helpful & cheerful. The other woman who I assume was the manager made me feel as if my child was in her way. Overall I wouldnt go back there.

Have had several enjoyable evenings at Auberge, but service/customer care at latest visit was disappointing. Requests seemed to be too much trouble - Chips instead of new potatoes? - will have to ask the chef.

Bread with Moules starter? - ony if you pay extra for it. Forgotten starter. Bones in fish fillet. More drinks? - we were never asked. Enjoyable food, and we will no doubt go again, but hope we are made more welcome next time.

We will keep returning. Food was excellent - service tops - cannot fault this place one bit. Priced very reasonable.

This restaurant is amazing and is outstanding place for any type of meal the lovely restaurant is in Rishton and has great staff and I will recommend this amazing restaurant.
