Freezing make sure the Humax is powered up, then,

Switch off using the rocker switch at the rear left of the machine

for at least 20 seconds, then switch it on and wait for the

machine to reboot (be patient).

Your recording schedule will need setting again, and, maybe

a new channel scan would a useful thing to do. Make sure that its

the switch at the rear that you use, NOT the front.

Old Faithful

We have had one of these for 5 or 6 years, and apart from the first 6 months before the GUI firmware was update, it has been absolutely brilliant. It has been reliable, easy to use, and gives great picture and sound quality.

HOWEVER, after its long sterling service, it has began to miss programs in the last few months. Time for disc re-format? If not, it is time to upgrade to HD (I would gladly buy the Humax Fox T2 HDR).

I can see many bad reviews of this PVR, on this site, and my comment would be: why are you still buying such an old model, when there are many great HD PVR now availble (Humax one among them) for the same price we paid for this 6 years ago?? Things evolve, move on!

What a load of borrocks. I've just retired my old faithful 9200 after 8 years. It has recently started doing silly things that are cured by taking the top off and giving it a sound thrashing with a vacuum cleaner. That and re-formatting the HDD occasionally means that it will run for quite a while yet, and all for 200 quid! However it is now time to move on to HD and to this end i have bought the Hummy 2000Twhich has been installed with no problem. I did try the YouVies 1010T but beware, if, like me you object to having pornographic TV channels on your receiver, forget this machine. YOU CANNOT DELETE CHANNELS TO WHICH YOU MORALLY OR POLITICALLY OBJECT! rant over, and its not Humaxs fault, it is the specification which the YouView consortium insisted. This includes the BBC which has spent £114,000,000 of YOUR license fee money on. Stick with the 2000T it's greeeaatt, as a tiger once said

Simply apalling. I purchased this based on recommendation by Which? - don't believe their reviews and do not buy a Humax. It is entirely unreliable and Humax support is not interested. My box continually locks up and the controls do not work - very frustrating indeed. The dual recording capability is good but only if you can control the box! Buy only if you like a challenge and are not prone to throwing failing electronic equipment from the top window in a 10 storey block of flats!

Had an 8000 which worked fine and bought this as an upgrade. Big mistake. Keeps crashing and is very unreliable. As above, Humax support were not interested. In the end and to send it back to the retailer for refund.

As with many other Reviewers I too have had the 'cold shoulder' fro HUmax Support. All they seem to want to do is get you off the 'phone which is fine at their charge rate! I am not going to buy another Humax box - ever!. I would suggest they buy cheap bits and pieces, put them together in a fancy box and hope Punters increase their profits and sales. Not me again so, don't buy Humax!

Look for a reputabe Supplier or, stay away from this type of device and Humax. By the way, this is my third Humax box all previous ones failed with different problems.

As Others Have Said - When It Works It Is A Splend

As others have said - when it works it is a splendid machine - but ! After about two years of intermittent service it has gone haywire. It misses reserved programmes but leaves them on the reservation list after the recording time, it shortens some recordings so that you miss the end, it mis-labels some recordings etc. etc. The worst thing now is that it locks up quite frequently and nothing can be done with the control. This can be temporarily cured by de-powering but it returns. Furthermore this wipes out the programme information. Several emails to Humax have not resulted in any help. This is possibly the worst feature of Humax.
