Quality Sound Volume
Brilliant CD player, treble and bass are excellent, could do with a remote control, but I love this. Denon is a quality product.

Fatastic Bit Of Kit. Ive Had It For Many Years Wit
Fatastic bit of kit. ive had it for many years with a variety of speakers and its sounded fantastic with every pair. enough power for the room and brilliant sound quality, not sure what all the complaints about volume control are for. i have it on my desk and am constantly fiddling with the volume, its on pretty much all day every day and ive never had a problem. just the best value for money and all the features i would ever need, MD radio and CD are everything i would ever need! cant really think on how to improve the product.
I've had this unit from new as a suppliment to my guitar practice sessions in a studio environment as part of PA setup and I have literally played CDs in this unit over and over for thousands of hours for the last ten years. I wore the CD player tray out, had it repaired and away again. These days I use more heavy duty studio kit and I now use this little unit for what it was designed for, domestic use and it's still going strong. I agree that the manual volume is now pretty useless - it only goes up!!! Mind you, after all the use that this thing has been subjected to I cannot complain. Will I buy another Denon?... too bloody right I will...

Had it home for less than a month, upon turning the unit on, the power button goes from red to green and right to blinking yellow, then shuts off. Took it in - they charged me 200.00 to 'fix' it and it did the same damn thing about a week later. Took it back, they were going to charge me another 100.00 just to look at it! Now it sits in my closet.
You paid 200£ for repair yet it cost only 129£? Wow
1 month old... you reject under the Sale of Goods Act, better still if you paid on a Credit Card the Consumer Credit Act kicks in, the retailer is .... , I can guess if it was a multiple which it was, buy from a good retailer, it is still under a year old so, Sale of Goods Act still applies.
It is not of mechantable quality nor therefore fit for purpose !
I am having the same problem. Thanks for the tip...I won't take it in. Its too bad it has great sound.

Great Little Piece Of Hardware. Combined With B&w
Great little piece of hardware. Combined with B&W DM310 sepeakers, you can enjoy the taste of a high end system with a low end budget as long as you don't want to push the volume too high. I have been using it for 4 years in my bedroom on a regular basis without any problem except the usual "volume button getting crazy" issue. BUT IT IS EASY TO FIX in 15 minutes: you have to open your device carefully (it is easy) and cleanup the pod behing the volume button. Look at http://www.avforums.com/forums/hi-fi-systems-separates/180290-denon-ud-m30-volume-fault.html. At least it worked for me.

This is a very fine little system. It's compact size conceals a big sound and excellent sound quality through the M51 speakers, all the way to max volume. Music reproduction across pop, classical, vocal and instrumental is very pleasing. Radio reception is a bit ordinary, but reproduction is good on powerful local stations (probably needs more arial that I am using). System quality and appearance are excellent and the speakers are outstanding for their size. I will probably add a sub-woofer when I sort out a compatible one, but that does not mean the system lacks performance or presence with its little book shelf units. Highly recommended.

My Farther Got What Is Now My Ud-m31 Second Hand,
My farther got what is now my UD-M31 second hand, he had it for about 7 months, before he gave it me, and ive had the system at least 18 months, and i have had no problems at all. This hi-fi is my holy grail of sound, being my first upper market hi-fi, it has (obviously) blown my previouse sony, sharp, panisonic systems out of the water, even though it is half the size and a third of the power, the sound is clear and presise, and in the right enviroment and the built in eq setting flat, makes a good 2nd best to my behringer dt100's (mixing/monitering headphones renound for having perfect sound reproduction) the low end wont shake your house down and that is why you get a subwoofer output :) but other then that the sound is gorgeouse! not to mention how this system looks. i mostly use itunes with my denon, and a touch of eq here and there does wanders, and if you have or are getting one of these, best to have the speakers set out peoperly, do this amazing little thing some justice :)
the only reason this product didnt get a 5 for sound quality is my experience with lynn systems. 10/10 for the dennon

After 18 Months I Experienced A Problem With The V
After 18 months I experienced a problem with the volume on my Denon UD-M31. I Have had to replace the input/putput circuit board, and now I need to replace the drive motor for the cd player. It appears you can only buy this part by buying the complete loading mechanism which will cost me approximately $185. I am dissatisfied by all these major faults within 5 years. So much for Denons reputation of quality!
Q&A
I want to use the tuner only, to feed a separate Amplifier system with its own speakers.
Can I do this? and if so, from where do I take the Tuner output?
Hello there
Is there an RCA connection on the DENON UD-M31 so that I can connect a USB recordplayer to the amplifier??
Regards.
My cd player reads bought discs but not ones I have recorded anymore. Display just shows me 6 zeros. What has happened?
How do you operate the Bass/Treble controls/Adjustment? I've tried the obvious with no success.
I've now discovered you need first to select SDB ON then you can adjust volume either on Treble or Bass by 1 to 5 points + or - using the fast back or forward keys.
I've also discovered that the subwoofer phono output works very nicely into my subwoofer system and gives an extra octave or thereabouts. Mine does have crossover before its own amplifier into 15" woofer built into floor.
I have just purchased a receiver amplifier, it has no remote. Do I need anything else and can I get a manual? I have switched it on but have no sound, the display lights up. I do not have speakers just the above can you enlighten me please?
Got a Denon UD M31 but no speakers. Which ones should I buy?
Thanks
I would like to upgrade my speakers for the Denon UD-M31 receiver. Can you recommend a good shelf speaker please?
